The debut was crammed with riotous, crazed pop tunes that somehow still retained a warm, friendly core. Like the lead singer was a good man, just a little...unhinged. Such a perfect balance struck there, it was a classic album. I want more!
Contrast, but it got no press coverage at all. According to their website, they're recording atm. I guess it all would have happened a lot quicker if they hadn't been dropped by Universal (because The Features wouldn't let one of their songs be used for an advert). If you sign up to their mailing list @ http://www.thefeatures.com/mp3/ there's some stuff to download.
i'm noticing a resurgence of appreciation for prolapse lately. played them while 'dee-jaying' the other week and a buncha people came up and wanted to know what it was.
bridge & tunnel.
campag velocet! [to be fair it was never gonna happen. even i hated them at the time. like em now, mind.]
six by seven. regular fries?
Do you remember when the NME were hyping them up to such a ridiculous level that even the band themselves seemed a bit embarrassed about it all?
i had a song on an NME 'bollocks to ibiza' compilation. i thought it was rubbish. i bought BCBG for £1.50 in the music & vid exchange a year or so ago though, and it's special.
pete voss from campag at trash.
he looked very simian.
played them in the city arms the other night gareth. even one of my fellow djs said it was rubbish :(
a trio of overlooked Irish bands....
The Whipping Boy
You would have been 5 when their debut came out and 8 when their second and last album was released.
Have you even heard/heard of them?
she's laughing at.
They were on a roof in the video, and it's years since I heard it. They were good, they bring back memories of my MTV2 obsession :)
now this will plague me too. was it off bastinado? umm. it sounded chimey and paranoid and...ARGH. ugh. what was it? i won't be able to sleep now. fuckenell.
Oh yes it was.
The songwriting and vocal talent of that lad is exceptional.
....Gorky's Zygotic Mynci
the best dismemberment plan could hope for was about tv on the radio level. they were never going to be weezer ("what do you want me to say" notwithstanding).
unless you mean popularity in the uk, in which case....yeah
that must have put a damper on things
the ordinary boys
+ many others
and lots of other bands beginning with 'M'
Criminal how they weren't any bigger, really - especially in terms of their first album.
