Wow, it's really interesting to hear how much they've moved on from their old sound!
This new record is SO different!!
a Shellac fan!
so different isn't it!
barely recognisable as the same band!
I've yet to hear it.
how different it is. it's so vastly different it could be another band.
it seems to be floating around in the internet ether.
I think you got the new Editors record accidentally.
seriously, Colin, it's just so amazingly different, isn't it?
It's Interpol, run through a shiny over-production machine. I hate it. Sorry.
has the Killers album I suspect
I had toast for breakfast
I called you Flackcapta1n
tears of blood then consume a handful of drawing pins.
contrary to what this thread suggests.
I just recently heard the proper version of Pioneer to the falls and it's fantastic.
it sounds COMPLETELY different to their other ones doesn't it!!!
i like the double bass pedal on the last track. drop c is a good tuning for them.
The Heinrich Maneouever which I thought was Interpol-by-numbers and pretty disappointing.
a bit vacuous, but the other songs I've heard are much better.
I'm hoping it will be less Antics and more TOTBL.
to be honest as I love both records equally.
I'm a bit disappointed at the cost of tickets for their upcoming shows though. £20 + booking fee for a gig at the Astoria. That isn't on.
and in any case most bands don't really change their sound that much.
It's as if the previous two albums were some crummy black and white film and this one is in glorious technicolour (only one of those films which were originally shot in black and white and then someone touched it up in colour around the mid-90s)
You got Sam's Town
interpol "our love to admire".
the new album.
I don't have any Killers records. Should I?
I can only find a four track preview on Mininova...
is on pitchfork, rest my chemistry is on you tube, and mamoth live is on youtube as well.
I'm sure you can find a leak somewhere if you really wanted.
Can't wait to listen all through this, 'Pioneer To The Falls' is amazing.
you'll be BLOWN AWAY with how DIFFERENT it sounds
a gem of a tune.
Obstacle 1 is just one of the treats you will enjoy.
And it's hardly immediate material thus it hasn't made much of an impression on me two listens through. But I'm confident its a grower and 'Pioneer To The Falls', 'The Lighthouse' and 'Rest My Chemistry' are bleakness at its blissful best by golly.
that lyric, 'you'll go stabbing yourself in the neck'.
It kinda makes Interpol seem just morbid and gloomy, when they're not really at all.
I pretty much love everything they've ever done
and Public Pervert?
Interpol are my favourite band, but even I found these tracks a little uninspired.
I have only love for this band
C'Mere is great
in my opinion
My best friend's a butcher, he has sixteen knives
He carries them all over the town at least he tries,
Oh look it stopped snowing
My best friend's from Poland and, um, he has a beard.
But they caught him with his case in that public place
That is what we had feared
He severed segments secretly you like that.
He always took the time to speak with me. I liked him for that.
from antics one slight bit. still can't wait to see them at leeds fest though.
YOU SHOULD BE IN MYSPACE
are you the same olly goodland who was in secondsmile?
if so nice voice
Yeah I am, cheers. Check out my new band: www.myspace.com/minotaurexplode
i'm such a stalker
and my first impressions are very favourable. I particualrly enjoyed the opener Pioneer to the Falls.
It does sound like overall some progress has been made and Banks' voice has never sounded fresher.
but for some reason feel really ambivalent about the new album and am not sure I can be arsed to buy it.
