Has anyone heard this?
It's rather downbeat, but rather splendid. Quite different. Quite languid.
but it was a webrip, so i avoided it.
they were fun last night.
any of their new stuff?
i wouldn't have said it was any more downbeat than the rest of the set though.
It was a great gig last night, but did anybody else see the Australian nutter at the front trying to start fights all night? He was one of the most unpleasant wankers I've ever seen at a gig, grabbed my friend by her wrists and then shoved her husband into the stage and offered him "outside" - where the fuck was security? This was after threatening some guy who'd objected to him crashing into him. Marred the evening somewhat...
they better not be there tonight
The title track, is amazingly beautiful.
or is there always an arsey Aussie twat at every London gig now?! Stay in the Walkabout I say!
It was a great gig, loads of great classics and the new stuff was cool too. Neko wasn't there but the other girl had a cracking voice so it was all good.
is basically every twee canadian indie girl wet dream rolled into one. she's LOVELY.
nobody believed me!
Their upcoming tour, in America and Canada at least, is going to be with Dan and Neko. Which is ever so rare nowadays.
I love Carl Newman and I think it's very much his band, but seeing them without Dan doesn't really compare. I nearly lost my mind at ATP last year. He is one of my most favourite human beings.
then she killed it! She was great... and sounded a lot like Neko and is better looking than Neko. Ha!
but when they played the night and day in Manchester we met. She is lovely. She also gave me some positive vibes vibes.
I think she's as good as Neko, if not better. Mwahhh
did anyone see the queue outside downstairs though? - what were they camping out for?
were queuing. They told me Tokyo Police Club. The New Porn gig was great though. The Neko replacement was excellent. Tonight should be good at The Borderline, better venue.
i listened to mass romantic on the way to work today, its so damn good.
I don't like what I hear about it being more downbeat and mellow. I like them being a happy, dancey, fun sorta band.
was definately happy, dancey and fun.
oh how i <3 kathryn calder.
and I agree - Ms Calder really is a fine female specimen.
officially out ?
I got sent the promo of the new album in the post but was on tour when it came, then I got back to Brighton and didn't listen to it or rip it because it was in an annoying 99 track anti-piracy format, but now I've gone to stay at my parents house in London for a couple of days, and I've left it in Brighton and won't be able to listen before I see them tomorrow.
Arse. But the gig will be good!
I still can't stop smiling thinking about it now!
one of my favourite songs of all time.
died during sing me spanish techno. I was THAT happy.
pants part of the night was when the quiet guitarist chipped in with backing vocals.
the levels were all wrong and his voice just sounded shit
they were ACE. Me and Brooner were stood at the front so we managed to nab setlists from both
was loving the drummers gurning and tamborine smashing.
with Sunny Day Sets Fire, Fight Like Apes and Look See Proof at Club Fandago.
he looked like Z out of police academy.
observation was how the sweat gradually spread across the whole of NPs singers shirt.
I bet he stunk.
and he didn't smell. His sweat did keep flicking off onto us though. Nice.
93 Ft East. Sweaty as fuck, which kind of suited it. Didn't do Star Bodies, and the new material didn't seem as immediate, but Mass Romantic and Bleeding Heart Show were the nuts. And yes, Kathryn is a sweetie.
Someone called out for 'Star Bodies' during the encore at the Islington gig, but Carl said it was "too difficult"...
