OK Computer - 10 years old tomorrow.
I'm listening to it now, for the first time in too long. Best album I've ever heard. I know it's a bit of a cliche to say that, but it really is.
Is it being re-released, to mark the occasion?

I just put it on too...
...it is a cliche but what the hell - its fucking amazing!!
s'ok
s'good!
It's no Kid A though I reckon. Mind you I played my OK Computer so many times the cd broke, so I suppose that says something.
Im still not sure what to think of it.
every time i listen to it I love it, but I dont often feel the need to listen to it when theres kid A/amnesiac and the AMAZING non album tracks like polythene, kinetic, nude etc
I really hope they put nude on the album.
It's one of those albums,
that you don't neccesarily overplay, because it's so intense. It works well, so when you do go back to it every once in a while, it's still amazing.
Having said that though,
I pretty much killed it when I first got it. But that was nearly 2 years ago.
boring album
I could see why someone would dislike it
but it's far from boring, the is variety from experimental, to soft pop melodies to hard hitting guitar riffs. It's got basically everything u could ever want in a Rock album.
Karma Police
Paranoid Android - ace.
rest - shite.
wrong.
No Suprises is like easily one of the most emotional songs i have ever heard
As is Let Down, thats amazing too and errrm Exit Music is pretty awesome too, I like pretty much the whole album. Its not my faviroute of all time (that accolade goes to Moon & Antarctica by Modest Mouse) but it comes real close to it.
my advice?
get out more
This coming from someone who thinks hes a robot?
Sod off
he's right
though
what
entirely stupid posts.
I've only ever listened to it about 3 times.
Apart from No surprises which is an all time favourite but nearly makes me cry.
I should probably add
that it is due to it's poignancy to an event at the time rather than just being so moved.
said too much
but excellent album. Fully deserves its spot at the top of those yawn-worthy lists.
Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very, Very
Over-rated LP
I can understand why some people would like it a lot
but I can't understand how so *many* people like it. I think they're lying.
Its
fucking great. Hasnt dated at all!
It sounds
a fuck of a lot more forward thinking than the vast majority of bands that have broken into the public consciousness over the last 10 years. I don't think there's been a mainstream band since who have even come close.
It's just an immensely...
...well-written record, with a very strange 'vibe' to it, which appeals to a lot of people. When it came out it was very original and the fact that Radiohead has 'gone a bit weird' as opposed to turning into a piss poor mainstream singles band (which they easily could of done) was, as I say, appealing to people.
I personally think it is one of the best albums of all time and love the vibe and theme, it appeals to me.
I can understand why someone would think it is over-rated if they didn't like it (obviously) but as I love it I think it deserves all praise lavished on it.
dull
really, really dull
I wouldn't say that.
But it's not that good.
It's really really really really
good. And it came out on the day I did my last GCSE and had 12 weeks of holiday to look forward to. Happy times!
Kid A
Motion Picture Soundtrack...tears every time. Also when is the new stuff going to see the light of day/get released?
might well be overrated
a la Sgt Peppers etc, but it's still ace.
I prefer the bends slightly, but all of the "middle three" (I recognize that's not technically true but I got elderly and rut bound around amnesiac) are brilliant.
I love Subterranean Homesick Alien and Airbag
The last three tracks
are pretty much perfect I think. Lucky being the best of all.
Sgt Peppers isn't overrated.
It's incredible.
apparently they're 'nearly there'
has this been posted yet?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5cY2S8-eGs
People seem pumped.
Agreed Sgt Peppers is incredible
and hence the comparison to OK computer, but I reckon it gets disproportionately more love than Revolver or Magical Mystery Tour, which are just as good.
Likewise OK Comp to The Bends and Kid A.
Revolver and MMT aren't as cohesive, although track for track they are just as good.
The Bends and Kid A are both perfect and brilliant in different ways, but there's something about OK Computer... the way the songs unfold, the subject matter... it feels very broad but very focussed, personal but expanisive in scope... I don't know. I can see why it's people's favourite. But it's not mine.
Woah thats cool
From seeing them live, I thought the new songs were going to be produced to sound a little more dark and "Loungy", and not so acoustic guitary. Theyve always got the tunes, hopefully they can produce them right.
i hear arpeggi in there!
</mega geek>
Makes me feel old!
I got it with money from my 14th birthday. Good time! I haven't listened to it in ages but I properly caned it when it came out.
I prefer Kid A.
Never heard it
yeah but...
It is just the fu>king mutts nuts though.
i feel old
You 'old' people are young
I bought it in my 3rd year of Uni.
i had it on repeat throughout year ten
it pretty much sorted out my GCSE business studies coursework so well that i got 100% which i think is proof wnough that it is a ten on ten record!
