did anyone go to this last night? what did you think?
how gay against you were as they are playing near me soon... anyone?
actually, so tell me about that as well
are a lot of fun live. the music is very infectious. they sound like the bits of shoot-em-up computer games when it gets really exciting, but with more distortion.
I put them on on Friday night and it was an amazing gig. Sadly last night the crowd were static and despite the band's best efforts they wouldn't budge, clearly to the band's annoyance. But that's Shoreditch for you.
I left before Indian Jewelry because I was knackered. I saw Jarvis Cocker there.
Monday vs. Friday night? hmmm
and lack of oxygen in the room last night seemed to zap the energy out of everyone.
Indian Jewelry were surprisingly good. The droning riffs, electronic bleeps and intense drumming worked really well in the darkened room. Think garage-rock gone psychedelic. Highlight of the evening.
It is easy see why people rave about Gay Against You, and with the right crowd it can be enormous fun. However, musically they are a bit underdeveloped and they will fail to inspire a tougher crowd like last night's.
House Mouse is an acquired taste and should only be applied in small doses.
