'yankee hotel foxtrot'. What should i expect?
a pretty decent album.
One of the best albums ever meaning top 50, maybe?
top two hundred maybe.
it is better than decent. but it's not an all time classic.
it's so so much better than 'pretty decent'.
because that way you get to be pleasantly surprised.
Maybe I have no soul.....
it's not a difficult album to get. it just isn't THAT good.
Its nice, but i'm not quite feeling the 'greatness' it feels like more of an advancement on pavement et al, rather than being a genuinely innovative record. But some CRACKING tunes, nonetheless.
give it maybe three or four more listens and it'll probably be up in your top 10.
there's so much anti-Wilco backlash on DiS at the minute! :(
...and quite bland album with a few brilliant moments (Jesus Etc., I am Trying to Break Your Heart) that for some reason always gets ranked as one of the best albums of the noughties.
maybe say that about their latest one (from the reviews about, as I've not heard it myself), but not yhf. Amazing album. Definitely a grower too.
...I get that it's experimental, and like I said it has good moments. It just doesn't do much for me.
safe and bland as criticisms of it.
i've listened to it lots, and there's just very little actually great there.
it's not very catchy.
the lyrics aren't great.
musically it's not particularly different.
it just seems to score eight out of ten everywhere...
and the highlight of the whole thing is the yankee hotel foxtrot sample, and even that bit doesn't last long enough or get noisey or messy enough.
started listening to Wilco recently. i've started with Being There and I really like it, so i'm hoping to be blown away by this album and 'a ghost is born'
