Schadenfreude alert: The Police comeback a complete 'disaster'

The Police comeback a complete 'disaster'

3:00PM Tuesday June 05, 2007

The Police drummer Stewart Copeland has branded the band's second comeback performance a complete "disaster".

The musician described the group's second Vancouver show last week as "unbelievably lame".

Copeland sad: "This is unbelievably lame. We are the mighty Police and we are totally at sea.

"I banged my gong at the wrong time so the big pompous opening to the show was a damp squib."

The concert, played in front of 20,000 fans at the GM Place Arena, got off to a rocky start when Copeland tripped as he took the stage.

The drummer said Sting's attempts to leap in the air during Synchronicity II left the singer looking "like a petulant pansy instead of a god of rock".

Sounds pretty terrible - especially calling your own band 'the mighty Police'. Add in the gong and tripping over on stage and it's all gone a bit Spinal Tap. Forgive me as I start purring with glee....

It's quite a good read. Copeland sounds like quite a funny guy. Sting, however is still a cunt.

LOL. Just LOL. What the fuck's Copeland doing? Where's the Klark Kent tour?

    • The guy has been known to refer to himself as a 'rhythm technician'

rather than a mere drummer - and he fucks up hitting a gong on time? I think I could wheel in my gran and get her to whack a gong on cue....

      • I do remember seeing

Copeland on a TV program saying about how Every Breath You Take is the national song of 6 different countries.

He mentioned one being a country called 'Trashcanistan'. Now either I'm very bad at geography or someone has been winding him up.

        I hope it's the latter.
