I really wish I'd gone to this. The video isn't the best quality but you get the idea.
i can trust you to relay EVERYTHING here within a five minute timelapse.
One of their machines (possibly a wood chipper) set caught fire and filled the venue with acrid, burning black smoke. As the venue was rammed to about double capacity, due to the ineptness of the organisers, it was a wonder that no one got killed in the trample to get out. As it was, various people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
As it was Faust, everyone took this in surprisingly good spirits, but it was about THIS close to being a Great White style disaster.
Faust deliberately set off some kind of smoke-bomb. They've done it at other gigs too, though I don't know if they'd tried it in such a small space before.
As the last song was finishing, Jaun-Herve Peron came down off the stage carrying what looked like a plate with a small candle on it, set it on the floor in the audience and set light to it. That's where the smoke came from - there was no actual fire.
Was a bit scary briefly - hard to breathe, and as visibility was reduced to a few cm, nearly impossible to find the exit. But despite that, in a weird way it worked really well as an end to the gig.
and i like that and wished to share it because i thought other people might too.
they were the first band of an alldayer, which was cancelled promptly after their set!
