I want to click on that...
You have to convince me first !
"you're soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fuckin great! can we make a cover of cat power is fuckin rubbish on stage?"
this just sounds like suede
uses that reference in such a lazy and basically inaccurate way. You're fucking clueless. Sorry, but you are.
Which was your favourite?
AND i watched the video.
that's how shit it was.
but no, A major works best. Good job boys and girl!
Also the beard is gone! :O
I keep telling John, "a little face paint and you're the next Paul Stanley."
tracy is hot and the clap's set. it was funny!
with this moment of fame...
Judging from the first two minutes of your set alone, I am a fool for being ill and missing the gig. That looked amazing.
northern things is funny
do a sicksick
Should you want it.
And read what people have been saying.
And swoon over our ace band pictures.
and have watched the video twice.
i mean, obvs its a bit, like, shit, but by golly does it make me smile
like robyn said, i forgot how silly/awesome his accent is.
i watched the whole thing AND quite enjoyed it AND laughed AND had a silly grin on my face.
my favourite song was probably the one where you shouted your names over and over. yeah!
your band are a force to be reckond with :-)
and I LOVE France, so you can all fuck off! Also - thank you. Funniest thing I've seen all weekend. And that includes 'Tommy' and the really shit chick-flick I watched last night :D
nice profile pic.
she's sadly underappreciated. Scares people, apparently.
By the way, I think the time has come to turn Tracy's DiS rating around.
don't say you didn't ask for it!
We provide you with happy-making ideal Sunday entertainment and we get a lousy zero?
No number could quite cover it!
Still, I love a lot of the imagery in that film.
To claim these minutes, please send £100 to Tracy, Hackney, London, E9 999.
It was entertaining but I think the decision to keep the set brief was a wise one.
It'd be interesting to see you play in a less 'friendly' environment as I think half the appeal with these things is observing the audience reaction.
I'd love to play in a less friendly environment. Did anyone notice the soundman holding his head in his hands before walking off on Saturday?
It was lovely to meet you by the way :)
I still don't dare watch the video though.
So we must have been doing something right!
it was Aliide! Do you think I can write that neatly?
good one craig.
i just like saying it
Opitome might have been the opposite of epitome.
and I genuinely don't think it's that rubbish. Sure the execution is incredibly shoddy but we have an aesthetic and we have ideas. Besides, creating is fun, making music is fun and people seemed to enjoy it when we performed it live.
What's the problem?
hehe...no, its not funny, its smug, its been done before, the ideas are boring and old, the execution is annoying, the people who seemed to enjoy it live are either plain gibbering idiots, or pretending to like it in an emporers new clothes kinda way.
You don't have to enter into a discussion about this, because you have the amazing, annoying get out clause of being able to say 'ah, but its meant to be like that because we are confrontational artists transcending time and genre in a death defying feat of utter self satisfying pony, so people hating it is just the result we are after'
Its horrific. Go and write some songs or fall into a deep hole
You're horrible sometimes.
I'm really glad I'm not you.
heheh, likewise ;)
I'm afraid I have to concur.
We're not confrontational artists - we're just reflecting our personalities in music which is shamelessly a bit throwaway.
And it's not smug or knowing. We're not trying to be "ironic" or whatever. Like I say, it's just how it turned out.
we can think of better ideas than rubbish. fun is just something it is - not what it is ABOUT
If I said how truly appalling I think that is, a giant dust cloud would come out of my mouth and cover the sun. It might be the smuggest thing I've ever seen.
we have soiled the holy step of your music pantheon with our awful stinking crap.
I mean it.
yeah, because everyone who doesn't like this is a Phil Collins fan...
must tootle off now, got a fun day listening to those clean crisp eighties production sounds planned
for a specific audience / context, so I don't see the reason to get angry about it. If it went on for more than 10 minutes then it would probably get properly annoying, but it's alright for 8 minutes. I've seen worst bands out there who actually take themselves seriously.
I'm intrigued about the accent of the blond haired frontman wearing a dress.
go on! take a guess!
some kind of posh north-Yorkshire / Welsh? That would be my guess.
Although I personally can't hear the Welsh. Born in North Wales, learnt to speak from my North London mother and have lived in Yorkshire for 15 years.
maybe you had a stroke at some point and didn't realise.
you can't put it on here and expect everyone to find it good/funny/clever.
or self-righteous. Some people further up there seemed to love this business but surely it's OK for someone to hate it and provide reasons?
hehe fuck off cokeboy
If someones gonna make a deliberately shit band I think its good to talk about it, discuss it, and this thread had been far too polite about this up until now.
I'd like to know why someone as motivated and talented as Brainlove feels the need to waste his time on this shit...c'mon man! This is lazy, I want to hear what you can do if you really put some effort in! I'm sure it'd be amazing...
sorry to be such an arsehole about this, but I had to say what I think.
'a bit of fun'.
what am I saying? I'm supposed to be slagging them off aren't i?
Just 'cos something's supposed to be "fun" doesn't necessarily suggest a lower quality threshold is applicable than for things are supposed to be "serious". Fun music still has to be good (and the idea that music that's fun isn't good can often be rather patronising).
I had no problem with TIH&TC (as I'm sure they'll soon be known) myself. It was an 8-minute set at the birthday party of one of the members and it was entertaining for those 8 minutes. As I said above, I do think it'd be more effective somewhere where everyone wasn't all in on the 'joke' so to speak.
But in general I do hate "it's just a bit of fun" being used as a justification for sub-standard music.
is that we are making music purely for the fun of making music. top of our agenga is not trying to make some sort of statement, though if we do that in the process then all the better.
it was our first gig and performed after two practices. and i'd argue we were more interesting than plenty of stuff that one hears.
My comment wasn't about Tracy is Hot & The Clap, more of a general comment of how the perception that "fun" music and "good" music are completely exclusive of each other tends to annoy me.
In fairness I know that's not quite what restlessboy was saying either; I was just saying that claiming something is fun doesn't necessarily excuse it not being good.
and something not being good does not preclude it from being fun.
i'd rather see something that was crap and fun than something that was good but boring.
are you crap and fun or good and boring?
Actually the band are starting to get pretty good musically - I think now it's just my vocals that spoil things...
Or alternatively just bellow instead of singing, which appears to work.
I enjoyed the Pagan Wanderer Lu set on Saturday by the way. First time I'd seen you and thought it was rather good.
that's good. it's nice to get an opinion from someone who's only seen the band. most people so far are comparing it to me solo.
it's sole intention is to be fun, and the people who its intended to be fun for enjoy it then what criterion of 'good' has it failed to meet?
So you're right.
I'll be quiet now.
ouch! I just pricked my thumb! Fucknell! I wish I had one of those fucking things you put on your fingers when you are sewing things...what are they called? uh... I fugget
I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that - it's entirely up to you what you do with your body.
But, under the circumstances, I can't really see how you find 'cokeboy' an insult.
hehe...but you made it easy to argue with you on here with those stupid coked up threads a while back.
Perhaps its lazy of me, and I should just 'debate'
do you see what I did there?
Yes that was pretty smug of me.
that's genuinely great...I don't remember it being that good last time i listened.
make that free album less available, people might assume you still sound like that...
"Go Get Fucked"...
Oh wait, I just did.
surprisingly, that was me trying to be constructively critical. I suppose it didn't come out well...
No, it didn't.
and i think it has good bits
THREE songs off the first album. A song from the first album got played on Radio 1 by Lamacq. The first album sold out, and got support gigs at Birmingham Academy, with Kevin Blechdom, Planningtorock & Max Tundra.
Considering it was the first thing I ever made a computer, I don't think it's too bad at all you little bumfucks.
i didn't like it
when we can borrow a guitar for feedback fun
could i use this opportunity to pit the eternal question:
junkplanet on saturday vs tracy on saturday
i think everyone knows the answer
It just makes you a bit citric.
Such are the perils of being in a band with different incarnations.
It has a massive keyboard part though.
'can you you tell me me what i wanna know know' is what i'd really really really like to see played live, please?
but i have no idea how we'd do it.
i'll look into it
So we were kind of saying one or two words each.
Then I could sing over the outro and you could play keyboard squalls.
Because it would clearly be excellent, but we never did it for some reason.
"some effort in" are available freely on the internet.
I am going to Pitchfork his kidneys for this outrage.
And hey BG, I don't mind people hating my music, but I reserve the right to not like being slagged of and defend myself, or course. :)
which might have been construed as being in defence of Tracy is Hot & The Clap.
They are THE STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!
they should be banned from making music and everyone should give them minus one out of ten.
incidentally that reminds me of when DiS though it would be a good idea to give bands a score between 5- and 5. does anyone else remember that? that was stupid, wasn't it?
i am still confused
im just in shock. Its hilarious, though i like the fact that you clearly think that youve somehow morphed into glenn branca on the guitar, when you clearly have not.
Does he only play 'A' too?
you full well know who he is.
And I'm going to bed.
guitar legend. - 10 improv points for you.
thurston moore would be ashamed.
Go and shove Glen Branca up your music snob arse.
i couldn't sound that awful
try the guitar symphonies instead, that is mostly a solo and is meant to sound enrgetic but terrible. That, right there though, is the start of all things noisy and experimental since 1980.
Try any of the soundbites here (bear in mind they sound better on record because of compression etc)
i really enjoyed that :D
- John Brainlove finally achieved his childhood dream of eating a whole roast chicken bought from the supermarket in the supermarket carpark and died of bliss.
- Tristan had a second pair of arms attached surgically as part of a friend's art project, but lost them to gangrene. He is shortly to appear on hit ITV quiz show, 'The Chaser'.
- Alice has moved to Romania, where she works a a weaver.
I FEEL LIKE I'VE JUST BEEN RAPED
