How many on DiS do you reckon there are?
Care to name and shame the incognito 'Professionals' anyone?
but most just lurk rather than post.
proffesionals? you mean people that write in newspapers? the NME? or just magazines?
i know a few.
Who do you know?
...and i make no secret of it. it's even on my (admittedly threadbare) profile.
why wd there be shame..?
Selling records shouldn't automatically be met with snide remarks
a few DiS writers write for different magazines.
why would i want to name and shame them though? its not like they would be ashamed of going on drownedinsound is it?
but there some teenagers who seem to aspire to such positions - they have no love of music.
an awful lot of people who regularly visit here that write for various publications whether they be internet fanzines, student magazines or national publications.
Personally I don't see any shame in any of it.
in continueously defending the newspaper/magazine you write for, cos' they got a slating on DiS, under another name? Why can you not be honest about who you are? that would be a true dispaly of balls and journalistic integrity in my opinion.
mentioned him, not me.
oh yes. there aint no shame in it though.
available on digital now. This made me happy, as I thought I'd lost it forever.
now send me lots of free cd's and tickets - NOW DAMMIT
We knew you'd eventually break. No one wants to send OMM freebies!
we recieved the last shellac album covered in poo and we were grateful...
- can we have the Shellac cd back now please? you can keep the poo for a bit longer though.
we sent it to everett true and told him it was an award for 'outstanding contribution to music journalism' - I heard he ate it. sorry about that...
Bloody small world innit?!
it's not all pipes and tweed jackets with suede elbow pads! remember we broke MC hammer before the ITV chart show did...
& 2 big number 2's (with the words 'Everett - Enjoy!' etched on top of them) have just been dispatched to you.
We got a cover star!!!
There was a thread about it somewhere...
One's a bloody southerner, the other's a mad Geordie ffs!
shove it Cloughie.
the internet's Jamie_Summers of the internet's http://www.runoutgroove.net sometimes hangs out.
also: Jonathan King.
Jimmy Jam of The Time personally... no offence...
wonder if Prince would ever get a NME cover again...?
any chance of a job? i can do both shameless gushing and spiteful putdowns on demand, toeing the company line at all times. Of course, I understand you got papers to sell, and am fully willing to succumb to the whim of your publishers, all whilst maintaining the veneer of integrity
you're not allowed your own opinion. It's editorial policy.
based in Newcastle, prominent in Newcastle, heavily involved in Newcastle. Whatever.
Doncaster gets a mention!
Let's name and shame everyone who has any connection with anything loosely music industry related on here. Or shall we not? Clearly there are a few axes being ground on an hourly basis...
For my part, I picked this username way before I became a DiS writer and was told it couldn't be changed when I became staff.
I'm not undercover. I write for NME as well as this site. It shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of but on here it seems a few of you think it is. Or at least act like it is. Ask yourself whether you'd turn down the opportunity to write for the magazine given half a chance. Thought not.
cos I was given it at birth, but yeah, I see where dionisio is coming from.
One question though:-
Surely if you were ashamed of people knowing you wrote for another publication you would be too ashamed yourself to write for them in the first place?
And if I was, I guess I wouldn't have made the post above...
for NME, IF McNicholas left.
As far as I am concerned he has done his utmost to ruin what was once a decent magazine, even if it is slightly too biased towards music that sells large amounts.
Well, not really. I do voluntary stuff for the Ulster Star.
yeah, i write for the music section of Nazi Memorabilia Enthusiast, so what? why should i be ashamed? I bet you'd all kill to write for it
we're having problems at the NME due to another publication having the same set of initial as us. You'd be amazed how many people get us confused with them!
I think I saw your review of Deutschland Uber Alles.
9/10 was a bit steep tho..
on here i have heard label people going to find out which bands people are talking about
One mans "Alligator" is another man's "Alligator", if you're with me.
I love it and gave it 4 months to grow on me. My mate hated it and I understand why.
Thats why end of year lists are fun, but ultimately pointless. Thats why Xfm is fun, but ultimately pointless. Thats why NYPClub are fun, but ultimately pointless.
i want reviews and reviewers to engage me in some way, whether it be flippantly, seriously or in some other way that the world hasn't invented yet. As long as the person tries to do that, fair play to them.
For example: it baffles me that Diver can like so many of the bands I do, yet still like Bloc Party's new record. But he gave good rationale for it, so fair play to him. Then I listened to it, made up my own mind and dissed it in a review. But what people on these boards often get confused is the criticism of the writing itself, and the sheer disbelief that someone might have a differing opinion to them.
Get over it people; it makes the world go round...
"Fair play to them"?
A pointless third paragraph that makes no sense?
Freddy Eastwood signed for the sheep yet?
you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...
to make me leave off the self-aggrandizing, semi-slanderous comments on other people's work.
You know, for a bit anyway.
