i was just looking at my last.fm top 50 now, and barring OOIOO there are only 2 1/2 other females featured as permanent band fixtures (Talking Heads and The Cramps, plus a half point for Brix from the Fall)

Does it mean that (whisper it) women haven't contributed that much to music? Or maybe because i listen to a lot of less recent stuff the prominence of ladies was far less pronounced in the olden days? Or perhaps they tend to be involved in music that doesn't appeal that much to me? Or am i just a disgusting cro-magnon misogynist with a sloping forehead and repressed homosexual streak?

All of the above?
