Something like that...Go!
I think interpol are better than joy division
loveless > ALL OTHER ALBUMS.
qotsa > kyuss
my opinion > everyone else's opinion ;)
at least for one day anyway
but slint were dull
Garden State - really good.
decemberists singer = arnold horshack
not even Jo Whiley herself
the kooks and lost prophets were responsible for 2 of the best LP released last year...
like, how about green day > ramones HA HA HA HA HA.
not left-field bonkers!
The Young Machines by Her Space Holiday is so much better.
Ben Gibbard: Most Annoying Voice Ever
not even controversial, it's entirely true.
i love Jo Newsom!
other annoying voices: that man from the decemberists.
I love Joanna Newsome though.
surely everyone knows that first one?
I struggle to get through all of Turn on the... and usually turn it off about half way through because I've had enough by then. It drones on a bit doesn't it? And peaks at the very start.
It does go off after Hands Away (impeccable to that point). Antics is more rounded but doesn't have the same highs.
Razorlight > Bloc Party
less shit than the other
St. Winnifred's School Choir > sex
Live Through This by Hole > Anything Nirvana ever did
Live Through This was practically something Nirvana did
you're an idiot.
also, as an aside, Pretty on the Inside > Bleach
the Hole>Nirvana argument again.
4) Modern Life is Rubbish
5) The Great Escape
6) Think Tank
Daphne and Celeste>Boredoms
has the worst voice in music...EVER.
I fully agree.
The Smiths suck.
Heavy music can be incredibly intelligent and is a legitimate art form, and has produced some of the best music full stop of the last ten years.
not as good as everyone thinks. Certainly not better than B EP / EP C.
I loved the eps. Found Mirrored ugly, bombastic and teeth gratingly horrible especially the awful auto tuned vocals.
are the most pointless band that have ever existed
= tepid Daft Punk-lite overplayed bobbins.
sound like The Automatic but worse.
Kasabian have a couple of good songs
clearly not listened to much justice at all. and smells of milk
Battles are shit.
it's all coming out now!
Battles are shit. Im not being ironic or controversial.
Battles are shit. Novelty for novelty's sake. Where's the music?
is this one:
not all that
Controversy: Hendrix is in actual fact, BETTER than people say he is.
are dead and freeing music from their constraints will open a lot of doors.
All that uber-hip german minimal tech house stuff is really fucking dull emperor's new clothes bullshit.
good video too.
I don't like Battles very much.
Oh great, now I'll have MI5 watching me...
THEY did it
sometimes I don't
in actual fact, not very good at all.
is complete cack.
I'm not just saying that either. It winds me up.
i love you
Explosions In The Sky, Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes and Joanna Newsom are all responsible for some of the most over-rated & completely shit music I've ever heard.
Until you said Joanna Newsom and then I thought that you have probably just never read a poem in your life.
of often do, sound a little bit like U2.
none of them are that good.
are dull as dishwater
should be banned from indie discos, and from pub juke boxes. We have all heard it enough already.
should be banned
are ace though.
John Squire is an excellent guitarist.
Their best album was 'Second Coming'.
but sometimes it makes things sound so good!
that statement is seen as controversial. Laptops are for spreadsheets and belong on a desk
Literally screams ' Daddy paid for all this'
but I'm nothing compared to sadsack!
Laptops Don't Belong on Stages (Laptop set)
What Have Ducks Got To Do With Anything?
Lady Di Fucking Deserved It
DJ set by MC sadsack; feat: sadpunk and sapdunk.
Coathanger & Lamb Roll Pub, 8:30pm, 799 pence on the door, $13 with flyer made out of a frosties cereal box.
can't believe a) someone beat me to a princess di comment and b) did a better job :(
ooh - chavs, goths, nu-rave, skinny tie indie, cheeky northern chappies, metalheads with big chains, stadium rock, ministry of sound... sometimes i think the taliban have a point about western culture....
The Clash were rubbish
song "hurt" is actuallt pretty good!
with 1/5 of the style, taste and musicianship of the original
What the hell.
but I can maybe see where you're going with this, can you elaborate?
Girls Aloud are NOT a great pop group
STEVE: You dirty bastard.
GRUNDY: Go on, again.
STEVE: You dirty fucker!
GRUNDY: What a clever boy.
STEVE: You fucking rotter!
he's alright. Not great, just alright.
Alright, here's start:
Robert Miles' Dreamland, had it came out 5 years earlier c.91-92 instead of 96, would have been hailed as groundbreaking
What's the best shoegaze band, other than My Bloody Valentine? Curve, because no other of their contemporaries managed to stay together for so long, did so many competent to great albums (none of them can be considered weak or underwhelming), and last but not least, managed to dive into no less than 4 separate genres during that time (shoegaze, industrial/electro rock, breakbeats, electro-pop).
Dubstar's debut is the best Britpop album ever.
that's a bit like saying that the brick at the top of the wall would have been part of the foundations if it had been laid a month earlier.
is awesome (not controversial)...
A bit like Garbage, only not as good.
If Garbage hadn't come around, I honestly do not think Curve would have had enough popularity and residual good will for them to make Come Clean let alone Gift or Further Adventures of Curve. A large number of their fans came to them solely because of the Garbage plagiarism charges (like me), hence why the existence of Garbage proved to be ironically necessary. Without that attention I believe their already marginalized fanbase would be even more tragically diminished. Their still lucky that in major forums like this people still somewhat remember and mention them.
and a bit less on chin scratching 'experimentation' there would be a lot more gigs worth attending.
It just means a dickhead in trackies
Revolutionised electronic music
Here's something spicier:
The current 80's revival (nu-rave, nu-synth, chillwave, etc.) is nothing less than an creatively bankrupt, ill disguised form of graverobbing. It is truly shocking just how hard and far the crop of indie (and mainstream) musicians have to try to actually sound unoriginal and dated compared to their predecessors in the 90's. It takes alot for a whole musical scene to not only stagnate in sound but actually regress 30 years back. I'm still reeling from the fact that Gotye sounds just like a B-side from the Police c.1982, but even more sickened by the fact no critic or fan has even bothered rip him up for it.
for about 3 weeks.
but I do think a fair amount of people would, not trying to pee on your post
though not better than a SP best-of album
including something marketed as a best of album
...is better than OK Computer
It's certainly true. (Not that I wish to condone Radiohead by talking about them)
The King of Limbs is their best record since Kid A.
It's pretty true, but then again, every Radiohead record since Kid A has been their best record since Kid A.
Oh yes, I'm going there...
Then our crop of pop music stars would have resembled more like Sophie Ellis Bextor, Roisin Murphy, Texas, etc. than our current generation of Adele, Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, etc.
That explains it.
they had bad taste
I tried to like them seeing as everyone whose taste I usually admire were wetting themselves over them but despite buying a few albums and seeing a few shows in the 90s, I didn't get it. Malkmus is a total diva as well, going on comments from ex-colleagues who worked with him.
One of the most under appreciated albums of all time. Deserves to be in All Time Top 10 Album Lists
4 good songs
I Wanna Be Adored
She Bangs The Drums
I Am The Resurrection
The rest is filler
This is SUCH an overrated record. If it wasn't for the drug fueled spike island memories that people have/pretend to have people would not rate this record much above average.
Happy Mondays, on the other hand...
but it's also over rated. Two major lists rating it the best British album ever (The Guardian) and the best album by anyone ever (NME) are crazy, though I would have said it's top 20 for British albums and top 50 for all albums.
You're all just wasting energy stressing about it.
