I think I have two spare tickets to Wilco at the Apollo next Monday. I booked four and subsequently forgot to invite more than one other person. Anyone interested? They are one of the best live bands IN THE WORLD.
Same as atom_jack, I can't think which of my mates would come with me to a Wilco gig! And the problem of going back down to London the day after I go up to Newcastle for the holidays. Honestly, I'd have loved to.
Its what happens when bands step up a level and fit into that kinda genre for clever folks earning £20k+ a year bracket. I think. Promoters know what they can and can't get away with. Wilco had sold about 1500 tickets in the first week for Monday.
Or maybe that's just the price of quality? Gotta bare in mind that a lot of these bands can sell big venues in London but probably only sell 20,000 records in this country at most. I was shocked when I heard Cat Power has only sold 4000 copies of FREE in the UK, even tho she can sell out the 2500 capacity shepherds bush. Go figure. If all those people bought her dvd and a t-shirt, and the back catalogue, and a gig ticket to see her a year, there'd probably be about £120 spent per fan. Which is considerably more than the £6.99 yer average keane fan spends on their album. But then there are a lot of them so the passion is diluted and hard to sustain. But what does this mean?
Oh no, I've gone all business talk, people switched off ages ago. Blah. Blah.

But be sure to take a pistol loaded with a silver bullet.
