Just wanted to say that really.... Eclectic line-up though, proper good!
what great value for money last nights gig was.
I was unsure of any of the support acts despite my online hunting before the gig.
The first metal band was fucking toilet. Screaming and thrashing like it was their first rehearsal with no discernable melodies emerging.
Josh Pearson was totally on form. His stoner cowboy blues fixed what the first band messed up.
And Lethal Bizzle?!?!? they were great for the first 20 minutes then became a little boring.
65days were on devastating form. Probably the most confident performance I've ever seen by them. Some of the new stuff sounded a bit dull when played alongside classics 'Retreat, Retreat' and 'Radio Protector' but they put together a decent set.
Yup. 65 days have STILL got it.
....get there early enough for rolo tomassi? they were on before the 'thrashing metal' of mirimar disaster.....
Got there in time for Lethal B - great set. Loads of energy.
65daysofstatic were great too. A little OTT, but still very enjoyable. Bit like watching CSI Miami.
Whoring himself out to indie line ups in order to get paid. Though his solo stuff was isn't that good...
....for rolo tomassi having to go on at 6.45 to a quite thin crowd, only to give one of their best ever performances!
so there were 4 support acts then?
is that not a little strange?
I'm not complaining like as the tickets were only 9 quid!
I've never been to such an eclectic and VFM support line-up for an evening gig! Either they were scared about filling the venue or the 65s and their promoters are thoroughly decent sorts. After Do Make Say Think last week, my gig of the year has changed two sundays in a row. Definitely the most enjoyable 65DOS performance I've seen.
.....think it was down to 65+promoters being decent on this occassion! all handpicked etc etc....
And if he wants to play with generic indie bands, all well and good. Anything that gets myopic indie kids listening to something other than white boys/girls with guitars has to be applauded.
Frankly, if the grime scene can't sustain itself in Bow I'm all for taking it to Hoxton. The likes of Dizzee and Bizzle are already having an effect. Whatever you think about Hadouken!, they're certainly a damn site more exciting than Queens Of The flipping Stone Age.
...come out with an album as interesting and varied as 'songs for the deaf' was, give me a call.
(admittedly now qotsa aren't interesting)
And QOTSA are just Black Sabbath without the comedy value. If heavy rawk isn't stupid it's pointless.
were sickeningly good. too bad there was no-one there...
mirimar were heavy as all hell. josh t was a little underwhelming. lethal b was jokes. 65 slayed.
