That is all.
And a few others...
But they're all wrong. Amazing band.
But I really can't see whats so good about them. At all.
saw them live once, thought they were gash
I'm getting it sent to me over msn.
support band is what they will always be to me
No matter how much i'm tempted to download, I am going to wait until release day.
so far very good. havn't listened to biffy in ages, very summery
4th June has been marked down as a very special day.
3/4 of it sound like the foo fighters/snow patrol. Total fucking cringe fest.
There are 2 good tracks. Get Fucked Stud, cos it has an awesome opening, and 9/15th, just cos it's fucked up.
The rest, oh boy. Pish.
Some of them are choons.
...But most of it still sounds like the foos.
I can kinda see the Foos comparisons, but it's a hundred times better than anything the Foos have ever done.
I'd count colour and the shape amongst my top 10 'rock' albums. And All My Life is a great record.
like the track with the barking.
but that's not neccessarily a bad thing. Better lyrics than usual in some places and some solid tunes. One or two dudds but more consistent than their other LP's; lacking the odd high point but no real troughs either.
It'll work nicely in the summer. Hopefully they'll get more freedom on the next un and make something really weird.
I've never liked Biffy before.
But Saturday Superhouse is excellent.
Would I like this album?
I've listened to it a few times now. It's definitely more poppy. It's like an album of "Glitter and Trauma's". I really like it already and I think it will grow.
is you and Fullerov don't like this album I will eat my own testicles.
ok, I'll definitely check it out.
said that this is the 'relationship of command' for contemporary British Rock.
Which is pretty high praise.
surely the next single? It's catchier than the ones they've released.
it'll make a perfect single!
when they've played it live at least.
the beat might do a bit, but I never really noticed 'no-one knows' in it before.
don't bother denying it
...and I'll stir it with my dick.
gutted i'm missing them in a couple of weeks.
can't wait for the roundhouse
the Foo Fighters. When they were good.
Solid record. I like the lyrics too. They don't seem to feel the need to go nuts anymore.
It'll be their biggest seller, no doubt about it. It has that kinda "breakthrough" feel about it.
until June 4th and stuff. But these Foo Fighters comments are making me a bit uneasy. Foo Fighters could never write an album like The Vertigo of Bliss.
Take Puzzle for what it is, which is a damn good pop-rock album.
but I'm not sure if I'd call some of what I've heard (Now I'm Everyone for example) good pop-rock. I realise this'd probably be different in the context of the album, and Get Fucked Stud sounded pretty good.
I loved it up until 'Folding Stars', but that song nearly put me off the whole album. What the fuck?? It's horrible. But then 'Machines' pulled it back. It's a good album, I'm sure it'll grow on me a bit more and I like it more than I liked Infinity Land after the first listen...
It's lacking hugely in the thing which made Biffy great in the first place though, the random guitar fuckery with added screaming. It's getting a cautious thumbs-up for now.
But yeah, not enough screaming on the album in general.
Also, the first track = Amazing. I think it's the new single too.
but I'd say "they're starting to sound like Feeder 'on the occasional song'".
I think Folding Stars has been deliberately put between Get Fucked, Stud and 9/15ths to kind of soften the blow of the sub-Snow Patrol MOR soft-rock hit to the fans who like them for Bodies In Flight. Like "yeah, we know this one sucks but listen to THIS and THIS, we've still got it, honest!"
it's slotted between two much better tracks as a half apology.
the rest of the album is FUCKING BRILLIANT softens the blow <several listens on from my above post>. The Conversation Is..., the soft screamy bit at the end of As Dust Dances, the drums on Love Has A Diameter etc etc... I'm fully converted
news bulletin music. It's absolutely awful. OH BIFFY WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? :(
it finally hit home for me when i was walking to the library with it on full volume in my earphones, really fucking great album. It's more straightforward, and the songs that sucked live still suck, but for TUUUNES like The Conversation Is..., 9/15th's and Get Fucked Stud they can't fail.
i'm dying to hear it but i just can't find it anywhere!
*cry for help*
RIGHT NOW. User gillissimo. There's a queue though.
mininova. search for 'biffy'. it's the 1st one.
i've got a YSI link, but the download keeps stalling on me :(
not mininnova, try demonoid instead
off mininova :P
I really love, I would never download a leaked album, but I'm incredibly anxious about this record.
It's worrying me, I need to downlaod it now...
I dunno if I can exercise enough self-restraint to not download this...
if you're buying it anyway. People say "ziff y'can't wait 2 weeks", but why not get it early? Out of some loyalty to the band? It'll make one hundred percent no difference to them, so why not? The fact that this release kept getting pushed back made my mind up.
of course if you wanna wait for artwork etc, wait. Ignore me like those people in the street who ask if you've had a trip or fall.
But no more-so.
I miss the excitement of buying an album and not having previously heard a majority of its songs.
...meh, I can wait.
I've decided that is my rating. It's their worst album, but still good.
but then again, so is having a trip or fall anywhere.
Blackened Sky is great.
than Infinity Land.
to delete Folding Stars. I dislike it and it ruins the flow of the album, it's meant to be getting grimmer till "machines" and FS is sugar pop.
I also did this with "session singer in a soul band" or whatever it was off Bright Eyes last album. It works a treat. You're listening along and think "fuck, I need to skip the next one" and it never comes.
and I'm a huge 'lyrics' man. When I read them in magazine reviews, I hoped it'd be a completely miserable but beautiful quiet song.
But singing "Elanor, I would do anything for another minute with you" like it's some bird who's just popped to the shops when Si's got the horn isn't what I had in mind.
Not that I'd expect a shred of sensitivity with a name like that, but have you lost your mother? Or indeed anyone incredibly close to you?
I have, and there is nothing more honest and true than the sentiment that you would give anything for another minute with that person.
It is a simple honest truth that is wasted on complete fuckwits like yourself.
"But singing "Elanor, I would do anything for another minute with you" like it's some bird who's just popped to the shops when Si's got the horn isn't what I had in mind."
That's just offensive, you cunt.
But the sentiment isn't what I had a problem with, if you read what I said, you'd see that the sentiment actually quite enticed me. I really expected a delicate song, a la 'Machines', which I think is a classic.
I'm certain Folding Stars is sincere, but I was just trying to explain why it lost some credibility with me. And yes, I have lost very close people, I suppose to you that means I am *capable* of understanding why he might be upset.
I'm a massive fan of the first three and I thought I would think this one will definitely be the worst. I now feel very wrong. It's nowhere near as good as vertigo of bliss, but it's very different, almost like a different band. Easily accessible on the first listen and has grown on me each one after. A lot of people are going to hate this, there's pretty much no screaming at all, nearly no spazzy mental weird bits (9/15ths is a bit weird though). I STILL don't understand the Foo Fighters comparison though. I think one person said it and about 5 million people who have probably only ever heard "that song on mtv2 once" just agreed.
any clue when it'll be up Raz?
I didn't really notice Folding Stars to be much special but then when I remembered the subject matter I thought a lot more of the song. Strange.
could be absolutely MASSIVE. 9/15s isn't as odd as I hoped though.
I thought it was originally gonna be the 3rd single, until their was a good fan reacton to 'Living is a problem' when Zane Low played it.
Who's got a match would definately be a better choice of single. For saying it's the big pop number, Folding Stars is so unmemorable/uncatchy.
Anyone fancy loading it and distributing the link?
I really want it but my worklaptop won't run torrents
nah, the conversation is... was going to be the single, until living was chosen instead
I'd like to fully retract what I said above about it sucking because it quite clearly doesn't. I think if it had been some dark gloomy acoustic ballad with those lyrics it would have been way too much, but dressing them up in this blast of powerpop-rock turns it into something else.
My only complaint about it now is it feels a bit restrained in the chorus, when he sings 'it's not getting easier'... he should really have let rip there.
when you consider the lyrics, and its background.
Really good album. I think I'll move it up a notch on my rating scale, to 8.
and Now I'm Everyone are amazing. Really amazing.
They've done good with this album.
Is fucking terrible! Sounds like a bad Snow Patrol.
That's probably the only track i now keep skipping when listening.
I love it.
Get Fucked Stud is outstanding.
And I stand by my love for The Conversation Is. I can see the Snow Patrol comparison, but they aren't that bad. Great song.
Get Fucked Stud is....ok.
The riff at the start of Get Fucked Stud is THE BEST THING EVUR!!
I think this record has confused a lot of people.
I know of others who were disappointed by it on first listen, but then it just got better...and better...and better.
I was hoping for a balls out shouty record, but they've gone for a mainstream epic rock record, and hit the nail on the head.
The riff is amazing, but then it loses me a bit. I still like it, but not to your OMG extent.
But it is a highlight.
Different strokes for different folks.
i wasn't going to bother with this after my initial disappointment with the singles but my interest has been rekindled down to this hype.
is one of the best songs they've ever done, I reckon. And I love The Conversation Is... too, I don't get the Snow Patrol thing at all, to be honest.
As Dust Dances is my current favourite, the doubled up vocals when he sings 'it's such a lonely ride' are EPIC.
Second to VoB, but that's no bad thing because VoB is untouchable.
but I've listened to nothing but Puzzle since Thursday morning.
after a good few listens, it's definitely worth a 9 or 10, there's no duff tracks at all, even the ones I dismissed as too poppy have hidden depths... A Whole Child Ago would make a good single.
is definitely one of my favourites.
The first track off this that I listened to once I downloaded it was Folding Stars, purely because of the reaction it got on here, and I think it's beautiful. Definitely their most affecting song since Diary Of Always.
This record stonks. I'm on my 9th listen today (I have been up since 6)
I hope i don't end up hating it!
I didn't realise they big'd up Will Oldham on Sat Superhouse!
"Then I see a darkness
You see the blinding light
Will Oldham's in the corner moaning
"Can't you write your own lines" "
Fuuuuuuck, this is so good.
I don't understand why people don't like Now I'm Everyone. CHOON.
Scottish, shit Foo Fighters tribute band.
How can a British band be so all-out American in their everything? Its disgraceful.
You've quite obviously not listened to enough Biffy Clyro. Or, any of their previous records.
that parts of Puzzle are Foo Fighters-esque. And maybe Strung To Your Ribcage from Infinity Land too.
But in no way are they a tribute band. Or shit. There aren't enough British bands like Biffy Clyro, that's why they seem so American.
Eee, poor thing. He doesn't understand.
Ah well. Elitism will get you nowhere. If I wanted to, I could chuckle all over your Jay-Z and The View being 10/10s, because my music taste is pretty fucking superior. Give the bands I wank over now, ten years, and I bet you my hands, they'll still be selling lots of albums.
You think you're important because no-one knows any of the bands you're into. Thing is, there's a big reason for that, and its NOT because you're better than everyone else.
I thought you were just taking the piss, earlier.
"...Because my music taste is pretty fucking superior. Give the bands i wank over now, ten years, and i bet you my hands, they'll still be selling lots of albums?"
Lol, dude, get a fucking head check. How many records you sell, or don't sell for that matter, has no bearing on how good a band is. You also cry about how elitism will get you nowhere, but to be honest, your above statement stinks of it.
Away and have a wee chob on your wee willy, son.
slagging Biffy off for exactly the same thing the Vines have been accused of for years, sounding exactly like the essence of American alternative rock.
Don't get me wrong, I like The Vines (well, I've not listened to them for years but they're still filed in the 'like' section of my brain). I'd actually say you might get something out of Biffy if you gave them a chance, I reckon a Vines fan would be quite predisposed to liking them...
Its me you're waiting for
You're not allowed to live anymore
And a whole child ago i would sleep all day
doing handstands on bottle bins
to prove that i'm sane
And im not foolin' around!
LOOKS LIKE WE MADE IT
I COULD TELL THAT YOU'D BE FLYIN'!
DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUN
DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUN
DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUN
I've mainly stayed on the fringes of this debate, but having listened through about 10 times, this is fantastic. Unashamedly stadium sized and epic, it seriously hits hard. Yeah there are bits which aren't so good, but it's bombastic from start to finish in such a good way. It's gonna be bouncing round my head for years.
will surely be inhabited after this.
9/10 now. Maybe even 9.5. It's grown on me tonnes, and I already liked it in the first place. I'd say Vertigo Of Bliss is better, but only because it's a fucking rollercoaster.
Whereas this is their most consistent album. Better than the last one, and the first one. I hope they sell millions of Puzzle. They deserve it, and they've been threatening to properly break through for a while now. Album of the year for me, bar Modest Mouse.
...but I can't!
Next single MUST be either Who's Got A Match or A Whole Child Ago. Either would be HUUUGGE songs this summer.
BTW everyone, WHEN you buy this album (and I sincerely hope you will buy the album. Illegal downloading kills music!!!!!!) look for the limited edition version with a free dvd (the making of, plus all the videos) and a free poster!
near the end of that song. Nearly enough to make me cry. God, I love this album....
I'm not in love with it yet. But I think I'm getting there.
chord changes and choruses put a big grin on my face every time I hear them :D
Good luck to them, I hope they do really well from it.
How everyone has gone from "I'm worried about the new album" to: "This is fucking ace". I really like it...and I keep hearing Living Is A Problem...EVERYWHERE! Even when I went in Topshop with my gf it was on! I reckon they're going to make it biiiig. :D
What the hell is that song then?
someone pm me this PLEASE.
i'm officially desperate for this now.
the big fat U-turns everyone is making on this album. And I don't mean that in a condescending / smug way.
The first time I heard this album I knew it would be one of my favourites of all time... I was disheartened by reactions on here and the, now, overwhelming positivity has restored my faith in these here boards.
They were amazing last night in Portsmouth... the new songs are pretty much the best thing to sing along to at a gig. ever.
MAKE SURE YOU GO OUT AND BUY THIS ALBUM ON RELEASE DAY.
Biffy deserve to be huge - let's kick some of this weak indie-schmindie cack outta the charts.
