Annoying aspects of music performance

doctornovocalcords [Edit] [Delete] 8 replies 12:31, 8 May '07

Number 1: frontmen who do that REALLY annoying affected straight lower-leg knee-bend floor stamp thing. God that is so painful to observe.

Number 2: bandmembers "rocking out" in a really contrived and overly studied way

Number 3: bands who spend longer on their hair than writing music

I don't recognise 1 & 2, and 3 hasn't bothered me since 2003, which I think was the last time I had regular access to cable music channels.

bands that just stand there looking too cool/bored to enjoy playing their own show, shuffling from foot to foot. I mean you don't have to be at the drive-in but don't expect me to have a good time if you can't be bothered.

As far as contrived/choreographed goes, I feel bad for mentioning it but the Action Plan supporting trail od dead seemed to fall into this category, they just seemed to try too hard in a way they had for many shows, "this is the bit where we RAWK OUT"...

were a bit like this. all the set was this quite quiet and subtle music and then the last song it was like 'And Now This Is The Song Where We Rock Out' and they just kept dutifully flailing around throughout.

        still quite good though.
