I'm I the only one excited about this?
but I wasn't too keen on the single. If I hear 75% + postitive reviews, I MIGHT give it a go, otherwise I won't bother.
the new Dinosaur Jr album is brilliant, he's quit singing in that high pitched whine that he was using just before they split up last time, there's a load of 7 minute long songs that consist of at least 4 minutes of J Mascis riffing, and it has one song that I like more than any other Dino song since Start Chopin'. 8/10
I'll give this thread until the end of the week, then go with the voting public.
Great record. Was really worried it was gonna suck like most re-union albums do but it is great. I'd place it somewhere between the earlier stuff and the later post-Lou Barlow stuff.
to thewarn. Safety first.
Stop Schubert and Roll Over Beethoven, bloody classical composers! :o)
just gonna be similar to Where You Been? which wasn't actually that good?
where you been was J at his most singer song writerish, and anyway it's a masterpiece (not the new one havent hear it yet)
basically what I'm getting at is it's not gonna be anything like You're Living All Over Me. Which is a shame.
The new single is better than I expected though!
are playing a small club in a couple weeks..should I go?
Haven't seen them since they played with MBV before some of you were born, and I wouldn't want to tarnish the memory.
due to being too young, but I've seen videos and the performances were energetic with lots of wild hairswinging and stuff.
Not so much of that these days, but the songs are definitely still there, and if you ignore the fact J Mascis looks like a grandma then you will have fun.
...thanks to a certain site to do with pigs (I have ordered it though), and I can say that it is actually great. Don't be put off by all the recent reunions putting out poor records (Yes I mean you James Newell Osterberg Jr). It is ace.
My personal favourites on there are Pick Me Up and It's Me.
Excellent album. Better than 'Green Mind' and 'Where You Been'.
Yeah, I said it.
And oceanRain, yes - they're definitely still worth seeing. Most of their set these days is tracks from 'YLAOM' and 'Bug'.
I should review it.
i ordered it yesterday from amazon. i'm looking forward to it :)
has anyone seen the wonderful Dinosaur Jr special edition Nike trainers? They're all silver and look very napoleon dynamite-ish and have the band logo and some artwork on, lufferly :D
in the heeeeeeels?
with a facial expression permanently in "what IS the capital of colombia anyway?" mode, I doubt it.
though sailplanes converse/vans sneakers should have wheels and an annoying blue light in the toe that illuminates with every step...
that sounds tempting.
For a week now.
It is really good. not the classic on par with YLAOM and bug but good nonetheless. got to number 52 in the UK album chart too!
