iLiKETRAiNS - matching train jackets works.
dressing up as black minstrels doesn't work
in school uniform....gotta be good
Devo for example.
not good, i cant name a band that does this that i like, cept Maybe hope of the states.
If a band appears in all its photos and publicity in some kind of uniform, then it can bee too goodd.
That having been said, its nice to have a 'theme' to a bands look.
always looked good I thought!
(Early) Icarus Line
All these bands had some sort of uniform and all were/are great, so uniforms = good.
I think all bands should look like Crime, or at least have the sirens and stuff.
Just about pull it off
I think it just looks cool for a band to have some kind of unifying theme to it's look, presents them as a united front.
What I do hate though is the U2 esque thing of "We only wear black now because we are a serious rock band" that a lot of bands seem to adopt for album #2.
originally all wore black as a tribute to unemployed people. or something along those lines.
because of this, hundred reasons dressed all in white when they supported them at some radio 1 gig.
A unifying appearance is good.
When I see bands walk onstage in the same clothes they've been walking amongst the kids in the audience it makes me sick...
be sick pretty often
do you mean uniform or shtick? like franz ferdinand used to look like deckchairs, or british sea power and their WW1 guise? or love ends disaster's matching terrible hairstyles?
feeder used to wear orange boiler suits. lol.
actually the needles have coordinated numbered t-shirts, that is a little lame. sorry gents if reading.
seeing Clinic's surgeon gear. Well sinister. The have occasional theme changes too, like dressing as Pearly Kings when they play in london
hold on, do lordi/slipknot come under this...?
i'm not going to start dressing like a monster or anything tho
you forgot GWAR!
have dresses that "F" on Buzz and "U" on Joe ?
Tomahawk has policeman outfits
The Monks had the best uniform out of the lot.
lemmy's first band, all cassocks and dog collars....
If they're smart.
The Beatles pre-65 - superb
The Kinks pre-65 - superb
Soul bands like the Contours and the Drifters looked great in matching suits.
It gives a nice visual aesthetic and a sense of an actual show.
Only if you are in the James Brown band.
So technically that means it is completely prohibited.
I was going to say that Danielson work it.
And I'm even quite charmed by De Novo Dahl's neon stripy rompersuits.
if they aren't My Chemical Romance.
I heard Islands had uniform and was very upset when I went to see them live and there was no such identical clothing :(
They pull it off quite well, but they looked better without them...
that video is amazing.
forward russia look cool with their t-shirts. t'would usually be very, very, very bad for a band to wear their own t-shirt, but i think they pull it off..
a band should look a band. The easiest way to do this is to all dress in uniform. But its better if they wear normal clothes but still look... together.
though some uniforms are cool
see Wrighty's post.
Apart from the Beatles' Cardin round-collared suits...
The Temptations always looked cool in matching bum-freezer jackets and ankle swingers.
Manics circa "The Holy Bible" was a good look
surely one of the most successful band uniform image experiment there is.
as is having matching surnames - Ramone etc
are almost always awesome.
Islands (sort of)
G.A.Y! (sort of)
misty's big adventure
i like it a lot, it's good to be aware of the fact that a show is being put on for you, it's not just loads of indie rock boys in cords looking miserable. Plus, dressing up = ace :D
