Roskilde info needed
So, it looks absolutely great. BUT: how to get there? I'm sure I saw something on here about being able to get a ferry from Newcastle to Copenhagen, is this right? If not, whats the best way to get there?
Many thanks for any help - I need to see Bjork, Mastodon and Clipse in a Scandanavian forest!
We're going by plane! Hooray!
Gatwick to Copenhagen...apparently the festival's about 20 minutes from the capital.
.
Hmmm. Its not as expensive as I thought it would be to fly from Manchester to Copenhagen, might do that instead. Have you been before? Whats it like?
I've not been...
but am going with a seasoned veteran who has assured me of its superbness...
.
Wyld. If I can afford it I will be so happy. The lineup is so great, even though Slayer have droppped out and Mika is playing! Whacked out.
.
£40?! Thats about £120 cheaper than what I've found so far, who's that flying with? The festival website says its 35km from Copenhagen central station to the site, which is approximately 20 miles.
great festival
very easy to get to Roskilde from Copenhagen. Trains leave Central station regularly and take you right to the festival site, the town of Roskilde is quite nice as well
We're flying to Copenhagen
and then either getting the train or driving from there. Apparently it's 45 mins on the train.
I can't wait! You have to see Transmission Low on the Thursday :)
you have to
get a train from Copenhagen to Roskilde train station which is about 30 mins, then you have to get a Shuttle bus from Roskilde train staion to the festival site which is another 10 mins, which costs about 10 Krs, and these are usually super packed.
At night about 1am to 5am there is a shuttle bus that goes from Roskilde festival straight to Copenhagen town centre
^^^ All of this
it's really easy to do, don't worry about it. We got the plane from Manchester, I think it came to about 115 quid each on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
Enjoy! I wish I was able to go this year. The town is lovely, the festival is lovely, the people are lovely, the food, bands etc etc etc. Lovely. Ace.
and the prettiest girls
you're likely to see in your life, every where you go !
This is the truth
I might venture to describe them as lovely.
yep
agree with all of that, my only gripe was the fact that they have about one and a half hours between each act on each stage, so whenever you watch a band, it will be rammed, and once they finish, everyone is left with a choice of say, 2 stages to go to.
other than that, its a piece of piss to get to once in copenhagen, and everything about it is amazing.
I loved the gaps!
It allows you to sit around eating/drinking and get a prime spot to watch the next band. That's after doing loads of other stuff in between. There was never a huge queue or crush of people.
Also every act played to a full tent full of really really enthusiastic people. And everyone was happy. And the security was awesome. And the gallons of free water. And basically everything. So good.
only gripe
place stinks of piss pretty early on
.
This is all great, thanks very much! Only problem is my girlfriend doesn't want to go now she's seen the lineup (too many crap bands, apparently), so I have a new stumbling block. But it looks/sounds fantastic!
See Ultimate_Damage's second post above...
problem solved...

I'm actually saving myself for all of the Pipettes, but plan C perhaps?
