I'll plump for 'Sadie'. I think it's the natural link between that album and 'Ys'.
She can try and be as overblown and 'epic' as she wants with her new stuff (which is good), but she's yet to equal that.
and i'd agree with your point. There are some points when listening to 'Ys' where i think that it's orchestration for the sake of it. Not seen it all live though and i suspect that the production is a nod towards being performed over home listening.
Have you heard the new song? It's impressive, but veering too far from the Joanna I like best.
Any links for it or a Soulseek job?
I'd probably go for "En Gallop"
you should check out a fella called binary on myspace who remixes it really well. I'm not generally a fan of remixes but I really think he treats it with taste.
Any link you could provide?
Quite nice. Sounds a bit like Four Tet with the acoustic pluckings and the clicking beats.
probably 'this side of the blue' but 'sadie' is definitely the masterpiece of that album.
with Cassiopiea and Bridges and Balloons also in the running.
Emm... Peach Plum Pear or Crab Clam Cockle Cowrie, f'realz.
peach plum pear or
inflametory wit or, or..., or...
WAaaaaaaaaaaaaY better than Ys
Easily Peach Plum Pear. One of my favourite songs ever. Love it.
between Peach plum pear, Sadie and Clam, crab, cockle, cowrie. I think at the moment it might just be Clam, crab... for the "there are days when the sky looks like a road..." bit. To me these songs just seem a lot more honest than those on Ys.
...to see her on Friday. Should be lovely.
then Three Little Babes
Any day of the week.
the wrong answer?
it's my favourite too
after that, Peach Plum Pear
It's my least favourite song on the album. The harpsichord is a nice contrast from the harp but I find the whole thing quite repetitive and shapeless, and those overdubbed vocals are really irritating. I love pretty much everything she's done apart from this one song. Am I the only one who thinks this?
none of them because
of her relentlessly grating voice
I like that new one though. That is some cool shit. Sersious.
Literally one of my favourite songs of all time.
