contender for album of the year.
I'm excited now.
better than Infinity Land?
is pish, though.
i just don't like biffy when they try to do heavy, sludgy stuff.
i often try and work out which is my favourite, and sometimes one comes out on top (Infinty Land today), but they are all 10/10 albums for me.
Saw them on friday - and they played mostly new songs which were all pretty damn good, as well as a few off Infinity land too.
to all its predecessors.
It has less Biffy chaos... it's more straight forward which I think some Biffy fans will hate. But it's so emotionally charged and the lyrics are fantastic. I've found alot of songs off their old albums a bit superficial. On this album the lyrics have real potency (it's about the death of his mother mainly).
not sure what you mean about the superficial thing - do you mean the songs tend not to have any meaning behind them, but now they have found something interesing to write about?
that's pretty much how I see it. Their other albums just seem to lack any real emotional weight.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Infinity Land and Blackened Sky (I don't like Vertigo)... but I didn't come away from those albums moved. More like, "hmm that was quite a cool song" or "hmm, that bit was clever".
It was copyright protected so I couldn't make a copy - can't wait to hear it again when it comes out in May!
Seriously, I listened to it about four times back to back on the weekend. It's probably one of my favourite albums, liek, evah!
til May to hear it. I'm actually jealous of people that are gonna get the joy of hearing it for the first time.
It's rare that i feel this way about an album.
on InfinityLand, I can't really put my finger on why, I think it's just because it has a few of bad songs on it and the track order groups these in the middle, unlike Vertigo which is pretty much perfect. Listening to IL is a chore these days, I find.
I was worried they're going to continue down the lightweight poppy route with this album, and from what I've heard from people who have listened to it already, this is the case.
I'm pretty bored of the new songs I've heard already, with the exception of Living Is A Problem because it's just so good, and maybe Get Fucked, Stud too, whereas I can still put Vertigo on years later and love it, in spite of playing it to death when it came out.
So, yeah, basically I'm looking forward more the new Marmaduke Duke album than Puzzle.
that doesn't like Marmaduke Duke?
(okay, maybe a third) on their first album would have fitted straight onto a Biffy album. Do you not even like these? I can understand not liking the instrumental/techno ones, but...
Fair enough though, I like Million Dead but I don't like Frank Turner solo.
hearing this too and I also agree that Marmaduke Duke are shite, which I fail to understand as I really like Biffy and I love Succioperro.
And those are singles. Biffy singles are usually bereft of their brilliant weirdness. Of which I'm sure there will be plenty on the album.
although I still haven't heard Living Is A Problem...
I miss the quirks and complexities :(
is a very, very, very widely held opinion
