Pelican
were fantastic at the Joiners in S'hampton last night.
A mixture of old songs and quite a few new (shorter) ones. And most importantly they played Drought!!!. First time in the UK for 3 years, so Laurent told me before the gig anyway.
These Arms Are Snakes were great too. Great energy.
Anyone else go?
really wanted to go tonight
in birmingham, but lack of funds, so that aint happening....
was Autumn into Summer on the setlist?? I'd say thats my favourite song, although Drought makes me feel so manly, especially that crash cymbal at the start.
to be honest
I can't remember the titles of the songs they played. They were the 4th band on and trotted on stage at 10:45 By this time I was pretty laced with lager so couldnt even think about song names.
I do know that they played "City of Echoes", "Drought" and "Mammoth" which was their (fantastic) encore.
WOOOOHA
I'll be at the Islington gig, perrdy excited, although I'm not too fond of the new album yet.
I dont
particularly rate the new lp either but the songs work amazingly well live (to my pleasant surprise).
After that gig I believe that Pelican are now my favourite band.
I just wished they played for longer though - an hour set is just not enough.
bum
when i saw them they didnt play drought (only know this cos its my favourite of their tunes by a mile)
and it was in an overly big venue
*jealous*
Southampton
Yup, I went. Pelican were absolutely awesome!!! At least as good as I thought they would be, if not better.
TAAS were ok, but a little monotonous.
Stout and Brenda were ace too, all in all a great night, and I remembered my ear plugs!
I thought Stout
were great apart from their frontman looking like an angry Prince Harry with gelled hair. They were thinking about changing some of their lyrics to their penultimate song to "EGGS" after I kept shouting it out to them.
I almost went to this
but i would've only been going for TAAS, and in the end i couldn't be arsed to go on my own just to see the support band.
saw them last night in birmingham
impressive and loud but the levels were wrong; all rhythm and bass, using pelican's signature sound, but the lead was barely audible and unfortunately a lot of their tracks seemed to end up indiscernible from the last. was left deafened but underwhelmed.
these arms are snakes, a band im much less familiar with, were fucking amazing. really good live band.
