Good stuff, hope it wasn't a one off, we need an album & tour!
i can't really see any good coming of it. And i still like 'Up The Bracket' a lot.
would be a possiblity, their second/final album was great but could have been so much better, they could re-create the UTB magic!
a second Up The Bracket would really work though as there have been so many copycat bands since, plus a few that have taken them as inspiration and made something better, so i think it would just feel a bit dated. i think it would be more likely they realise the hype will get them enough attention and make an album as 'good' (i.e. not) as The Libertines.
who would you say made something better?
i couldn't put words in bands mouths and say the Libertines influenced them but i think they started an influx of British bands who may not have had so much success otherwise, some of them actually good. i was thinking specifically of Maximo Park when i wrote that.
i have since thought of Battle (although i prefer Battles) and Bloc Party, who despite some good tunes etc. probably wouldn't be at the level they are if the press weren't sitting at the end of 2004 thinking "right we need someone to fill this Libs gap".
regardless of whether you think people have bettered 'their' 'sound' or not, wouldn't you think that making another record LIKE Up The Bracket, not simply AS GOOD AS, would be a bit silly? It's not UTB gives them a good enough formula for a longish career's worth of decent songs the Ramones had.
