sometimes music file sharing programs are a very bad idea
Talk to me about Neil and Jack Nitzche.
on occasion they create moments of absolute utter genius. see: Broken Arrow and Expecting to Fly , both on Buffalo Springfield albums but basically not involving any other members of the band. However by the time we get into neil's solo albums, we realise that his more naturalistic rootsy style doesnt fit so well with jack's very stylised and sometimes OTT arrangements, so we get things like Neil's overproduced debut solo album, and A Man Needs a Maid on Harvest where the arrangements are just too much for the song.
however after a while he realised that, and put in some far more tempered performances on Tonight's The Night.
before Neil, he was of course heavily involved with Spector, wrote songs like Needles & Pins with Sonny Bono, orchestrated the wall of sound on River Deep...
played piano on all the early Stones hits, like Paint It Black etc.
Produced the Monkees Head soundtrack!
wrote and produced and orchestrated many many wonderful things.
he made some very interesting solo albums, my favourite of which is
however after a while he started doing toooo many drugs and started to suffer
from mental difficulties, even whilst writing some of his most successful work
such as the The Exorcist, Performance and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest soundtracks.
is a great site!
I have "Chopin '66" (which is great, but a little aimless) and am planning on getting "St Giles" next. Any chance of a Jamie Summers Young/Nitzche collaboration compilation??
to the ones on here
two of my favourite songs of all time.
