Any non-London-based bands - how do you get people to your London shows???
Help??
I'm in a band (who isn't, right?), based in Cheltenham, so we rarely play London. We have a show there on Thursday, but don't really have any avenues for promotion. We have a few friends there, and they are hopefully coming down and bringing friends, but beyond that we've got no-one to directly 'advertise' to.
I was just wondering what other non-london-based bands do?
Just turn up and hope for the best (done that before)?
Post it up on here and hope someone notices(always do that, though tonights posting is somewhat uninspiring)?
Book a London show once a month and try and build a fanbase (this is obviously a good idea, but nonetheless not guaranteeing anything)?
Anyone have any smart schemes for getting people down to shows beyond blatant jagging thru this board and others??
I did consider posting the details on here, and saying that it would be a free show despite it actually not being so, and then arranging with the door that anyone who came to see us we would pay for. This essentially constitutes pay-to-play, and so sucks enormously, but might work???
Jeeez, I dunno. Enlighten me someone...............
Anyway, seeing as I went to the trouble of thinking/posting about this dilemma, I may as well advertise anyway, right?
