(manchester-centric) does anyone know who the other bands on were?

Yes! Was that not THE best rage against the machine cover ever?! So funny. Apologies for all the superlatives, but they rawked. I love how much they hate grunge music, especially Pearl Jam.

They're also the smelliest band ever.

The first band were Burnst (the ones who are a bit Don Caballero-esque), and the second band (the 'noise' duo) were Blue Sabbath Black Hawaii, who are from France.

the superlatives are understandable - i think the grin i was wearing throughout was wider than my actual face.

i like the way he went on for ages about nirvana and pearl jam and then they played rage, also his rambles about hamsters and moustaches were entertaining

thanks for the info - i quite liked the two supports, was a bit crushed though

It was just manically good fun. Most of the time all I could make out of his mumbles was "...cerveza...minor threat...". Awesome.

Fuel is really annoying to watch bands at if there's any more than 20 people there, especially as they dont have the foresight to move the tables and chairs which take up most of the room out of the way. Plus its expensive to drink there.

yeah i'd never been before and when i got upstairs was quite confused by the fact there were loads of people sat comfortably at tables whilst loads more people squirmed uncomfortably trying to get away from the top of the stairs without ending up on 'stage.' but it worked out ok in the end

there was definitely something he said about hamsters and one song he dedicated to his dad and his dad's big moustache. i was quite sad that i didnt get a hug though

I got a hug! I smelt pretty bad afterwards though. Like a horses undercarriage.

    • isn't it

blue sabbath black fiji? they were at my house the other day. were they any good? i like the cd, wonder if its any good live at all.

Oops. I knew it was blue sabbath, I seem to just be randomly joining colours and idyllic countries together for the rest of their name.

I cant say I thought it was that great. Not rubbish or anything, but not especially good or memorable. Just the two of them, playing guitar loud, riffing. Pretty one dimensional. I haven't heard them on record though, maybe it sounds better. Thats what a friend was saying to me after they'd played.

        • i thought they were entertaining

i didnt really understand what was going on that well and wasn't keen on the sound but they kept me entertained. especially because the people sat behind him looked, understandably, terrified of him flailing around right in front of them. i liked how they looked like they were being controlled by their guitars too

  • i am so angry

and lazy. when i got to the whitechapel gallery, it had sold out. i will never forgive myself.

    • we

put them on in both Southampton and Bournemouth, they were bloody great!

The explanation of the songs was genius; the bit about children riding dolphins to find their hearts was a particularly baffling one!
