60's Albums
You know what's near-impossible? Looking for ACTUAL releases on CD by artists and groups around in the 60's, that aren't The Beatles, The Who or Simon and Garfunkel.
Looking for any Atlantic or Motown records is useless. You just find heaps of compilations.
Does anyone know where you can get hold of any?
I went to Music Zone in town yesterday, and it'd been taken over by Fopp. This almost made me cry with joy. I spotted a Drifters compilation. 2 disc set with LOADS of songs I love buy them, for a measly £3.
Along with it, I saw a Miles Davis album for £2. So I picked both up, having never heard Miles Davis, and assuming this was a good chance to test the water.
I haven't listened to the Miles Davis one. But I've listened to the Drifters one - at least, I listened to the first 20 seconds of the first song, and the first 10 of the second.
Apart from the fact none of the people on the record are from the original line-up, the songs seem to be recorded with MIDI instruments. It sounded like Karaoke music. I felt sick. I'm taking it back, even if it is just £3.
So yeah. Advice on buying actual releases from the 60's on CD would be priceless. Cheers.
