Hype Machine: ch-ch-ch-changing?
What does this actually mean? Just that they're going to supply better recommendations?
"Hype Machine 2.0 Coming Soon!
During the past several months we've been developing a brand new version of the site. We are now in the process of putting on the finishing touches and will be launching in the coming several weeks. Stay tuned!
What's New?
Hype Machine 2.0 will forever change the way you discover music and meet new people.
We've created strategic partnerships with Google, Microsoft, AOL, FBI, NSA and the US Department of Homeland Security to create the most comprehensive social recommendation service in the world. We are also partnering with the overseas branches of Google, Microsoft, The UK Home Office and a large number of CCTV networks to serve our community of users in the UK.
After experimenting with social networking and music recommendation technologies, we were unhappy with the limits of these tools in connecting people and media. We learned that by observing people's daily activities and online browsing habits we were able to recommend them new music and consumer goods as well as introduce them to new friends with an unmatched level of precision.
Our partnerships allow us to accurately measure the users' responses to such recommendations, greatly improving our future suggestions. Combining this information with financial histories, credit scores and medical records adds an unprecedented level of depth to the social networking component of the service. Additionally, information in your profiles at other social sites such as Last.fm, MySpace, iLike, Pandora, FineTune and others will be included in our recommendations.
Hype Machine 2.0 will allow easy access to the relationships created by this data, letting you to experience the most powerful recommendation technology available. Stay tuned for more updates at the Hype Machine News Blog as well as sign up below to participate in the beta stage of this service."
