My money is on either The Twang or The Klaxons
everyone loves different stuff.
Because Yndi Halda are a band of such aimless, meandering pointlessness, that getting down to the taxing task of takin' care of yoself is easy with them on. Less risk of having to interrupt yourself to listen to that awesome riff again.
What do I win?
personal tastes and opinions?
a fascinating, literate band, who reference Pynchon and Burroughs in their lyrics and couple it with exciting guitar pop, that's why.
here meaning 'steal' surely?
but that doesn't exactly detract from them.
ta for that...
I'd say Klaxons are a band who split opinion most. I hate them, lots.
does that mean mine was best?
i don't think they're different and original enough to be the 'marmite' band a lot of people seem to claim they are.
I thought that when I was watching that episode of Skins, why were the klaxons so mean to that little mute 14 year old?! Just cos their music sucks (imo!!!!!!) they have to take it out on their groupies.
lots of others on here too do. I haven't met anyone who likes The Twang yet. Or Mika.
but it's not because they're revolutionary, or even "new rave" - they're just a decent indie band who don't sound like Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight or Bloc Party.
In interviews they seem like quite likeable down to Earth and fun people which is rare.
is REALLY REALLY serious, I don't know which, but on the Culture Show, they did that thing where they explain that they're really clever, are well-up on their marketing etc, and kind of gave the game away to the young'uns that they didn't just appear out of a worm hole, clad in neon. They seem like clever chaps, and I don't think it's necessarily them who create the air of pretentiousness
about right. And they're breathless and fun. It's only the air of pretentiousness and all the hype that grates slightly.
makes me want to kill myself.
I want them to use that quote for the cover of his album.
muttered in an over-earnest regional accent?
need to get over yourself. I am not even sure if I know who Mika is.
don't mind Mika
I love how every time a news story or review goes up they just get a barrage of abuse.
I think they are ACE!
rather than the twats themselves - ever interview I've read with Faris Trotter makes him seem like an arrogant cunt, which I'd be willing to bet he is.
Razorlight are a pretty consensuously hated group, no?
In fact, I'm wearing their t-shirt now.
I think the album was a bit of a letdown though, could've been way better.
I reckon it's probably razorlight.
sorry to dissapoint you, but he is actually really nice.
great guys. Great taste in music, good fun, completely non pretentious.
for being a 'hype' band, but they ARE actually good. Any friend of the Xerox Teens is a friend of mine.
has a very nice 1/10 DiS rating with 89 raters...
is what i would guess
I loathe Mogwai and Manic Street Preachers with a black intensity like the collapsing core of a dead sun, but I'm probably alone in this.
actually I'd say it was U2, news article pops up, torrent of abuse reigns supreme...
Razorlight, The Twang or U2?
I love Klaxons.
i like that one. so no, not everyone here hates them.
on t'other hand, i'd rather slam my balls in a car door repeatedly than listen to another Razorlight song ever again.
what a bunch of cunts.
nearly everyone loves Klaxons.
I think its more likely to be a band who thinks their indie cause no one likes a posuer indie band bringing in posuer indie fans do they.
Yeah, dont like them at all! anyone else?
a few years ago, there was absolutly no one on here who liked him in any way, shape or form
probably the twang, yeah.
although, im not sure who they are.
there's a song that's always on the radio that might be them. I quite like it.
They are the best new british band according to NME!!! AND NME IS NEVERRRR WRONG just like they werent wrong about The Fratellies or Kooks!
bazzin' - taking down this shithole country one pint at a time - whats the matter? don't speak twanglo saxon? fuck off
...of whichever shit band/artist have a new record out and have their face all over the cover of the music magazines. at a given time. Meaning most attention is on them.
For example I would say right now it would be the Twang, before then it was Mika. The likes of Blunt haven't really been around too much over the media (and long may it continue) and don't get much attention on here anymore.
Obviously there are some people that can't help but shove themselves down our throats (I'm looking at you Johnny Borrell) and are therefore consistent targets of abuse on here.
On the whole I would say Razorlight.
Increase in popularity in the mainstream = increase in hatred on DiS
Towers Of London.
The Ordinary Boys.
All deservedly so.
there are several artists that just about everyone on here hate, or simply wouldn't have any cause to listen to. Limp Bizkit, for example. However, such artists hardly ever come up in discussions on these boards because there's no conversation to be had about hating Kiss. Threads about DiS sacred cow bands are far more interesting.
