Can't. Seeing them at the Scala at the Modular Party next week though. Anyone off to that?
hate you all - however, please report back with what they're like live - lucky london bastards
The Teenagers were seriously underwhelming. You could tell they'd never played live before, no stage presence at all and truged off after 15 minutes due to lack of material.
Chap though, wow wow wow.
You have pretty much written word for word an email my friend sent earlier this morning, and I quote:
"last night was pretty hectic - the teenagers were distinctly underwhelming
however, not much charisma to them onstage, and if you think about it,
their songs aren't really that fast so nothing to jump about to
these guys supporting however, were the f*cking business - think metronomy
but a tiny bit less electro and a tiny bit more guitar. But including the
dancemoves, and more - http://www.myspace.com/thechap"
in terms of them obviously being seriously under-rehearsed. But I must admit that I did not expect them to have much material and so was not disappointed on that score.
What chiefly knackered them was the appalling sound and the feedback which made them sound like a funky Jesus and Mary Chain.
But the songs are good, and they came across pretty well. I would certainly see them again.
However, The Chap were the real stars of the night - an absolutely blinding set.
I await the Scala next week with intrigue.
