Spot of help if you please

Slicky [Edit] [Delete] 12 replies 16:04, 10 February '05
Can anyone help me identify a song which I have forgotten the artist and title of but goes something like "We'll go out tonight and breathe a little deeper". Actually that may be the title??? It was out around 96/97...

Am having a few reminisces but I only had this on tape and I threw all my tapes out in a fit of "let's get with the modern stylee" a few months ago, plus I don't have a tape player...and hence can't look it up...

Thanks awfully.

It's Blameless, 'Breathe (A Little Deeper)'. It was on their album which came out in 1997 (I reckon) on China Records (I know). I actually own the album and 7" single, Britpop kid that I am. I used to love that song!

I remember that song. The follow up single was horrible, forget what it was called.

Ohhhh, Blameless...thanks very much. I don't recall a follow-up, but had probably moved on by then, I was very flitty at that age.

Erm, not sure. I think the first word of the song is "Suddenly..". I used to video the indie charts off the Chart Show. Whenever that came on I used to hit the fast forward button as quick as poss hence i'd hear only the first word.

Heehee...two points there...I used to do that as well. I remember dancing round the living room to Mambo Taxi...*giggles*

And two - are you sure you don't mean Angry Anderson? 'Suddenly your hearing me...'

Ah, yes Poems on the Underground. What the world needs is Mambo Taxi!

I did like it when they played a Huggy Bear tune at the wrong speed. "I was just struck, struck by lightning, struck!" that one. The pictures they used to put up when a band hadn't made a video were class too.

              • Re: Spot of help if you please

Yeah, they just put up a band photo and then twirled it round on the camera and added some swirly visual effects. Top drawer.

Ah, riot grrrl. Those were the days. 'Boy, Girl revolution tease...' I'm gonna go home and listen to some Huggy Bear and Bikini Kill tonight. And realise just how bad they actually are! :)

      1996 on China Records.

      :p

And the follow-up was "Signs..." which isn't horrible but is maybe a tad sugary. Cracking album though.

Yep, managed to track down aforementioned video of indie charts and it is Signs. Still sounds horrible to me though. What's the first line then? Sounds like it starts with "Suddenly ..." to these ears.

"Solemnly he strolls around/He's bored and feeling down."

'tis a song about how a neglected child becomes a psychopathic killer. The signs were all there from the start, see...

Yeah, "Breathe (A Little Deeper)" kicks its arse.

Ah right. I'd have never have guessed the subject matter. What next, 99 Red Balloons is actually about a nuclear holocaust?
