which is better? or are there any other cheap indie nights on a saturday i should be aware of?
it was full of bad britpop kids and shed seven sounding records... uuuurgh!
too many 'fucknuts'.
But you DO get drunken indie shmindie cunts running into you and knocking your JD and coke flying out of your hand, before scuttling off onto the dancefloor without so much as even an offer of replacing it
I guess it was a good size club and yeah cheap...that's two good points.
that hold more than about 200 people to be honest...especially when the fucknut ratio is so high and they play the gossip.
I'm with Summers on this one.
jamie, next time you're up we'll go to the buffalo bar or something? that's usually decent on a saturday night.
of knowledge, so sounds fine to me! twill be the 14th for rota by the way
What you need my friend is the Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh, Essex. It's a theatre of sticky dreams
Although I haven't been ther since 1995. Do they still play Line Up by Elastica about 5 times a night?
It's changed a lot since then. It's not quite as... specialist? Not sure it ever really was, but now it's mostly filled with NME indie types and the odd staggering pub leaver
And yet I still go most Saturdays, because it's just so stupidly convenient
but there are always people in there looking for trouble ie chavs.
a lost night in Afterskool - I drunk 3/4 of a bottle of vodka on the way up there, checked my coat and remember opening my front door at 6am.
upon awaking in the afternoon, I had 2 phone calls from friends asking "Where had I gone last night? We searched the club about 3 times for you!"
yes, there's some kids in there that need a damn good kicking...!
London needs an Offbeat or something, afterskool plays too much jangly bollocks, silver rocket isn't diverse enough, frog is full of children...
They played the normal version AND the remix of standing in the way of control and ALL of the klaxons singles. Now I like all those things, but a little imagination?
There was also a circle pit to Common People *shudder*
as I went to uni at LSE, but recently it's just become sooooooo bad it's untrue. It's full of sixth formers, nearly everyone is giving off attitude, you get funny looks if you aren't dressed in a certain way, and I suppose psychologically I find it a bit sad to still be going to a night at a place I graduated from nigh on 2 years ago.
So we switched to collideascope last summer. The music isn't as good (though in the summer it's ace when all the students are away and they don't feel obliged to play the kooks and the artic monkeys), and they rotate their djs so it can be hit and miss if the good ones aren't on. The people who go aren't as "cool" as AS, but you know what, at least they're having fun, and dancing, and the main focus of their attention isn't whether their hair has fallen out of place.
But I've had great times at both, and they both have good places in my heart.
That hasn't helped at all has it.
was ace, week in week out.
it went considerably downhill once university started in september, both crowd and music-wise.
although not really any closer to a decision!
Just after we split up I bumped into my ex there and she made me cry, and my friends couldn't be bothered with it happening every week, and had also tired of it, so I gave them the excuse they needed
No one was there and they were laying down some tunes!
I went last week after the arcade fire. I left after 20 minutes
if you're pushing 30 you just feel like utter shite in there, last time I went I propped up the bar and growled at people. all night.
fancy seeing you here! xx
Glad to find out it's not entirely a figment of my imagination.
heard them play kooks or arctic monkeys? or maybe they do. i probably wouldnt know because i am a retard and usually off my face.
It's great for people watching, if nowt else :D ever seen men crying in the toilets anywhere else? hee hee
candybox on thursdays
is where it's at!!...
In my often wrong opinion, I find AS plays good music that I listen to but don't want to dance to where as CS plays good music that I wouldn't listen to but would dance to...does that make any sense...??
oh, the pad.
er, front room of someone's house!
perhaps i am a fucknut
perhpas you are jealous
HEY I DONT KNOW!?!!?!
...worth going to on a Friday night? in London?
at the hub, whitechapel
its £9 in, but the drinks are fairly reasonably priced
and not so indie
so, liek, not really that comparable
out of the window at the back. But Afterskool is much better.
the votes seem to be with afterskool so thats where ill be going - good work people x
