Guildford Fall by Fugazi

IndieAndy_Jones [Edit] [Delete] 39 replies 22:18, 20 March '07

one of the finest pieces of music ever to be heard by my pretty little ears.

Everything about it is awesome.

  • all of them

    (sorry)

    Jamie_Summers | 20 Mar '07, 22:24 | X
  • Epic Problem is their second best song by the way

    I also like the chorus on Repeater where they say "1,2,3 RIBENA!...RIBENA! 1, 2, 3, RIBENA...RIBENA"

    IndieAndy_Jones | 20 Mar '07, 22:25 | X
    • ^ HAHAHAHAHA

Probably Merchandise...I like melodic Fugazi much more than abrasive Fugazi. Repeater is also awesome.

      • i concur

        Melodic > Abrasive

Also, Merchandise isn't even the best song on that album in my humble opinion - Blueprint is my favourite on Repeater.

    • hahah

i once put Repeater on on a bus and everyone thought it was "Ribena"

      good times

      my favourite is closed captioned
my favourite fugazi lyric is "suffer your interpretations of what it is of what it is of what it is of what it is of what it is of what it is TO BE A MAN"
my favourite member of fugazi is Guy Picciotto
my favourite "other" band of a member of fugazi is rites of spring
my favourite mashup featuring a fugazi song is the vocal from Independent Women put over Waiting Room
my favourite early fugazi album is repeater
my favourite late fugazi album is either end hits or the argument
my favourite fugazi release is the instrument dvd
the only member of fugazi that i've met is ian mackaye

      • i've only met

the extra drummer from the Argument tour. nice guy!

          • i know!

            that gig was SOGOODODOODOD

            Jamie_Summers @alcxxk | 20 Mar '07, 22:44 | X
      • from a Mark Prindle live bootleg review

"Also I thought it was rude of Ian to change the lyrics of "Suggestion" to "Why can't I walk down the street free of suggestion? 'Cuz I'm a hot horny slut with BIG JIGGLY TITS!!!!" and then invite all the ladies in the audience onstage for a wet t-shirt contest, I mean maybe it was fun if you were there but it's a real drag to sit there for 20 minutes listening to Guy Picciotti chanting "Wet Sloshy Jugs! Wet Sloshy Jugs!" Also the drummer Brendan Canty is a talented man so I don't know why he had to keep stopping in the middle of songs and refusing to continue until somebody came up and bought a t-shirt or poster. That wasn't very nice."

  • *Pedant Alert*

It's Guilford Fall isn't it? I mean a song about that cesspit in Surrey by a bunch of Yanks would be a little strange...

    tom_from_sparks | 20 Mar '07, 22:27 | X
    • shuttit punk!

yes it is Guilford Fall, but..um..i like to say Guildford...as...um...i grew up near there?

      was that convincing?

      IndieAndy_Jones @tom_from_sparks | 20 Mar '07, 22:32 | X
    • :(

I though this was about the G

      ThingsThatFly @tom_from_sparks | 21 Mar '07, 09:47 | X
  • sorry to go for jamie's answer...

    ..but yeah all of them.

'end hits' was my favourite album for ages though.

    Effloresce_Sean | 20 Mar '07, 22:32 | X
    • never be sorry

to follow the path of jay_so

      Jamie_Summers @Effloresce_Sean | 20 Mar '07, 22:37 | X
    • The Argument has always been my favourite

maybe because it was the first one i got. But now I think End Hits MIGHT be better

      IndieAndy_Jones @Effloresce_Sean | 20 Mar '07, 22:37 | X
      • i would have to go for your first choice

        it's the argument for me.

  • Repeater is hit and miss for me.

    But more hit than miss.

The Argument is more miss than hit. I'm sorry. I probably still haven't listened to it enough.

    IrishMagpie | 20 Mar '07, 23:12 | X
    • 100% hit

      factually

      alcxxk @IrishMagpie | 20 Mar '07, 23:45 | X
  • i saw fugazi live 4 times

all on their last tour. I wrote down the setlist every night. They played 66 different songs over the 4 nights.

    But not Guilford Fall.

    SHOCKING!

    dan_thw | 21 Mar '07, 01:26 | X
    • you make me jealous

I was a bit of a late comer to Fugazi. They may have already 'split up' by the time i discovered them.

      IndieAndy_Jones @dan_thw | 21 Mar '07, 09:03 | X
  • There is a special place in my heart

for "Do You Like Me" because I think it's awesome and because it contains one of my favourite lyrics ever: "You should pay rent in my mind" = genius.

    IanJ | 21 Mar '07, 09:23 | X
    • Bed For The Scraping

has got an absolutely incredible guitar line. Awesome song. But in truth I could honestly list about thirty favourite Fugazi songs.

  • Provisional.

    NOT reprovisional.

    thewarn | 21 Mar '07, 09:46 | X
  • It varies from day to day

Today, it is Floating Boy, just for the mulitple drums at the end...

    Damnation that's goooood. :)

    Sonic_James_Doom | 21 Mar '07, 10:05 | X
    • bit obvious

but in on the killtaker is their most acessible album, yes? the trio of rend it, 23 beats off and sweet n low is sublime...

      amyblue @Sonic_James_Doom | 21 Mar '07, 11:13 | X
      • I got Killtaker at the same time as End Hits

and it hasn't grabbed me in the same way that End Hits instantly did. So i think that means i disagree, and find End Hits more accessible.

        IndieAndy_Jones @amyblue | 21 Mar '07, 11:18 | X
        • no

killtaker is CLEARLY their best album. Today anyway.

          mattgoesfaster @IndieAndy_Jones | 21 Mar '07, 11:43 | X
          • at the moment it's probably my least favourite

but i shall persevere with it some more.

            IndieAndy_Jones @mattgoesfaster | 21 Mar '07, 11:46 | X
  • Mine's changed to

    KYEO. For now.

    I'll keep you all updated.

  • would mentioning Furniture now

convince everyone that i have a big cock?

    alcxxk | 21 Mar '07, 13:17 | X
    • No. Furniture's just a poor man's

      waiting room.

PS I don't ACTUALLY mean that.

      thewarn @alcxxk | 21 Mar '07, 13:18 | X
  • I'm bumping this because I absolutely agree with it

  • Probably the only advantage of being as old as I am...

... is having seen Fugazi live on the 7 songs and repeater tours in McGonagles, Dublin. Happy days.

    crosseyedsniper | 24 Aug '12, 02:39 | X
  • Blueprint.

I was very lucky to see them from the off. the first two E.P.'s were enough to convince anyone. Then, when they 'toured' Repeater and played unreleased songs something purely magical happened. Usually when a band play a 'new' song it is a pointer to go to the bar, toilet, etc. When they played 'Blueprint' live pre-Repeater the small venue (Edwards No8 Birmingham in this instance) fell into near silence. Mouths fell open, it was just astonishing. When they ploughed into the following song (upbeat but I cannot recall the title) the venue erupted. I will never forget that magical moment so it has to be Blueprint for me.
