i just got the scott walker 5 easy pieces box set for £12, mint condition.
you can find a good bargain if you look properly
has 3 of the subpop 7" singles series, but i already have them all, dammit.
i already had the 3 they have, i mean, i dont have all the subpop singles. that would be nice.
i remember the day i got the black sabbath album box set for a tenner. score. even better was just after id bought it a guy came in with the intention of buying it. ha.
i need to go on a charity shop trawl sometime soon.
some good charity shops near where i live now. i miss the ones in kentish town..
i havent investigated them enough down here, but the one in kentish town i went to last week had a wealth of stuff.
on kentish town road. the oxfam music/book shop is probably the best, but there's a few further up towards the station that often also hold some gems.
I don't want Dire Straits albums!
Although, I bought Echo And The Bunnymen for £3
I hate specialist record charity shops.
The one near me has a bunch of common records for over the odds- they seem to start their prices at a fiver-
I don't mind that, but the galling thing is they have one record I REALLY want, by Steve and Stevie, from '68, on Toast, and they want £20 for it, which would be fair enough if it was excellent/mint, but it is G- Vg...I'd GLADLY give them £8 for it, which is what it would be priced for in a proper record shop.
It's been sat there for months, as has all their other stock. They just don't get that the prices in the book are for 'mint' examples of things, so they don't sell anything.
give me that vinyl
tell them you know how long its been there, show them you know what you're on about and offer them £8
how keen the volunteer staff would be to haggle on a charity donation!
But I went on Thursday though and all I seemed to see was The Tears albums, The Tears EPs and The Tears Singles. At least 15 items by them.
Something tells me The Tears weren't a very good move by Mr Anderson and Mr Butler.
i've not been to the new one yet. i hope they haven't sacked me yet.
I used to spend hours in there. I got loads of cassettes for 50p each and resurrected my walkman.
i LOVE buying stuff from charity shops
