in that the number of CDs i buy tends to be higher than the number of gigs i attend?
I buy many more CDs.
Never been a big gig-goer and that hasn't changed even though I've moved to London. I'd say I buy ten times more CDs than gigs i attend.
I've seem to have butchered the English language in that final sentence. I'm sure you get what I mean though.
I like the idea of buying a gig.
i buy cds at gigs as well, which evens the field even more.
Today i bought pavements Wowee Zowee
and Mountain Goats 'we shall all be healed.
i went out to buy trousers.
I am still without new trousers.
I'd say it's CDs to gigs at a ratio of about 5:1!
was just wondering.
i've not been to a gig in aaaaages. years possibly. but i bought about 20 cds in the last month.
do the math
I can't remember the last cd I bought, but I've been to a few gigs...
That's probably cos I tend to just buy things on record, or download them.
If it was records/gigs- many, many MANY more records than gigs
i'm in crapgighampton, after all!
i went to gigs more regularly in Southampton than i do in Brighton though. Hmm.
it would be the opposite. i find it always tends to depend upon who you can find to go them with tho.
i usually go alone.
i felt really awkward and stupid.
then i met someone off here and it was a big relief.
i always feel awkward and stupid
maybe that's why i've stopped doing it.
But i get to see bands. So.
Is it time to plug my blog again? i broke the page last time and i want the wound to heal.
on my tod too. Whoop.
liked your post today :)
Thank you, you're too kind.
i've put it on my profile though. Longevity innit.
good if you keep it going. i'll give you some props on my blog tomorrow.
that's very kind of you. You nice man. i'll have to make sure there's loads about the South Coast meat-ups an' shi'.
perhaps we could just lean? just lean? just lean?
I tend to get a smattering of freebies and stuff, but I get loads of guestlists for gigs- stuff like promo work and newspaper reporting. I used to buy many many more CDs.
I buy too many, I think. Every now and then I'll buy something, listen to it once or twice and then forget about it. It's shameful. If I bought less, I'd be able to devote more time to each one. That's a body of work and a complete labour of love for an artist, and occaisonally it gets to the point where their work becomes a 'possession'. This is why I rarely download albums from t'internet, as 1) Listening to an album on a computer is completely not the way it was intended to be heard and 3) It's even easier to overlook it after a while
Then again, if the album's shit...
Make that about ten albums to every gig. Twenty is a bit too high
"i'd rather spend my time on the internet buying expensive t shirts lol"
this wasn't meant to sound as mean as it does.
dove_from_above is 'safe'.
and go only between 1 and 4 gigs a month.
