its pretty bloody good.
"by the monument" is a tune and a half.
it is absolutely superb. Not sure if it beats A Certain Trigger as they're different albums. I'll be listening to nothing else for a good long while.
i have this to listen tomorrow!
it's alright, a little softer than i was expecting, quite a bit more piano than the last one.
and every song seems to be about girls!
on the last one?
but it's even more obvious on this one.
where all the songs aren't about girls
on a certain trigger are about girls but just more discrete than the new album.
a lovely way to end the weekend
who posted a thread about how huge it sounds, i'm not sure. but it is. it sounds fantastic, and i'm not sure the rip i've got is a particularly brilliant one.
yay for good new albums :o)
i was intially quite skeptical about them working with gil norton, but it seems to have paid off. if they're not headlining wembley arena by next summer, i'll be VERY SAD INDEED.
I wanted them in the Stadium by 2009.
Still after that job?
I had a lot of friends going and I was invited.
is a brilliant album.
best post-punk-revival-blahblah second album by a MILE
It's an incredible record. A lot more mature sounding than A Certain Trigger.
By The Monument is an amazing song as well, great live as well
reiterate enough how stunning this record is. It does feel like a personal intrusion into Paul's life though.
dont like any records that aren't personal intrusions!
that Maxïmo Park inhabit, I'd always been fondest of MP.
But now, well, I actually love them. This is EXACTLY the album they needed to make. It's massive, accessible, catchy, melodic, joyous, deep, interesting and quite frankly, a perfect indie-pop-rock LP.
It deserves to send them into the same arena as Coldplay and if it doesn't, there is no justice.
Not forgetting, this is being released on a pioneering, long-standing indie label that has worked its arse off for years.
i really didnt think much of the new songs live, maybe they are just working them out live at the moment or something
but this is a really good follow up album
and the sun was shining...
great way to wake up
what a tune
The production is maybe a bit TOO huge, but that's a minor gripe. Needs more listens, me thinks.
The first 2 tracks are standouts so far.
I liked them when they were leaner and janglier and now they are all distorted and boyrocktastic.
to be honest. Just the singles.
