mogwai when they supported manci street preachers
why the hell Mogwai agreed to do that tour.
how can one of the best live bands in the world be booed off stage?
I don't know any manic fans off hand, but don't think i want to now!
i saw them get booed off on the port talbot leg of that tour.
I am ashamed! i could understand if it was some punk or metal act they were supporting, but MANICS FANS? disgrace.
booed and bottled off on the Stoke Trentham Gardens date of that Manics tour too.
Because Manics fan hate anything they doesn't involve the Manics.
at Leeds 2002.
And Daphne & Celeste too.
Both at Reading festivals.
The crowd there was so vile.
I saw a group of 8 year olds with an accompanying parent. They were close to tears. It was quite sad really. There was no need for all of that. If you don't like em, don't listen!
I disagree entirely with crowds booing bands off stage. Like you say, just ignore them and go see someone you do like instead.
except in the cas of the rasmus... I read an interview with the singer once where he revealed his favorite pizza is Margaretta. Ya prick! Bottle him!
^ most bizarre reason for disliking a band ever.
i find myself validating it, though...
But sometimes at festivals it seems completely pre-meditated by the organisers.
How much money did Carling waste on 50 Cent?
That surprises me.
too foooookin wierd innit. I LOVE the coral.
The crowd went crazy apeshit for proud mary. Thats all you need to know.
:-( i really enjoyed their set, they were having loads of fun.
it was about a million years ago. i even forgot there were multiple nights...
supporting Madness because he said England had no chance of winning the world cup.
He was right of course.
That album's legendary.
I've seen booed off stage have been at Reading festival. So, as above - 50 Cent, Daphne & Celeste, Rasmus etc.
I forgot about 50 Cent.
have been great every time I've seen them.
That must have been a really terrible show.
Or at what show. I always feel really uncomfortable when bands get booed etc. Same when comedians die on their arse... Never find it funny, always uneasy...
I think it's fucking horrible and ridiculous. I was shitting it when Fiddy came on at Reading the other year. The noise was fucking horrific.
i'd love to be in the situation where the crowd was trying to boo me offstage. i'd just be really aggressive towards them. and make noises. LOTS OF NOISE.
it was hilarious when 50 cent and his 'G' unit threw all those bottles into the crowd at reading. Although I wouldn't have found it funny if I had got spanked in the face with one.
It was Daphne and Celeste, not Shampoo. Same shit, different year.
The Rasmus (same - they bailed in the first song, at least fiddy gace it a good 4 and only left when a chair got hurled onto the stage, and he was grinning from ear to ear - I actually 'spect'd him for that)
had respect for ole fiddy after that set. He was cracking up and saying 'whats wrong?'. Then the 'G' unit brought out that case of budweiser and all hell broke loose.
I think he enjoyed being the villain.
I've ever seen a band being booed off stage. I remember Good Charlotte had a lot of shit thrown at them at Reading in 2003, but they carried on regardless.
Good Charlotte didn't cty like The Rasmus.
David Cross - ATP
but he's a comedian and not a band so it doesn't really count does it.
who was on as Sleater-Kinney's "warm up" thing, or at least was on before they played?
I have since learned to love David Cross' stuff... what sort of thing was he talking about?
that's the dude.
his obvious, unfunny american 'comedy' bombed like a good 'un.
thing was embarrassing. It was all a bit of a cock up really as he was meant to be doing short bits n netween all the bands on that day, but ATP thought he'd just be announcing the bands so didn't allocate anytime for him. After that S-K decided to give him a whole slot beofre they came on but he was then confronted with a bunch of people (including me) who really wanted to see S-K. Doomed to failure.
It didn't help that he wasn't funny. I seem to remember him doing Princess Di jokes as if anyone cared anymore.
There's so many stages to go to - why stand about moaning about things you don't like?
I think that was their name at least, in Bangor supporting My Vitriol. They weren't actually booed offstage, rather every time they finished a song, literally NO-ONE clapped, so they just sort of wandered off without saying anything, and nobody noticed.
and they were great actually...
i saw the international karate plus (featuring most of mo ho bis o pi) in bangor
when was this?
Supporting System Of A Down, took a load of shit, but carried on
And Test-Icicles supporting Alkaline Trio, also carried on with a lot of crowd baiting
Ironically both at Brixton Academy, London twats :D
the dillinger escape plan being booed off too. a sad day.
though how you can classify them as crying on I don't know, they're just spouted shit and ambled around unsure whether to leave or play.
Test-Icicles=bag o' gash
"oooh, our first heckler. And what's that your saying sir?" (C.McMath)
"You're fucking shit!" (Heckler)
one of the most engrossingly bad/good sets ive ever seen
Trail of dead were heckled when I saw them support Foo Fighters.
I've just realised that was nearly 7 years ago :/
I remember them supporting Ozzy and the then bnewly reformed Sabbath at Ozzfest and not getting bood exactly... but every time a song finished all the crowd chanted OZZY! OZZY! OZZY!
Poor Dave thought they were cheering for him (how?) and kept saying things like, "hey, you guys really love us!"... heh...
that was the same day Korn had to pull out and it was then announced, "in their place - give it up for... THERAPY?" to a collossal BOOOO... I think I was the only one thinking, ooh, I quite like Therapy...
Not exactly booed, but 400 Blows got a lot of shit when they supported the Bronx. Loads of Kerang and trendy kids thought it was funny to take the piss, but Skot the lead singer took it all in his stride and they played an amazing set.
400 blows were great - thankyou for reminding me what they were called... excuse me - oink beckons...
see Ash play in 1999 and they were supported by a band called the Chicks who get some serious booing. I think their drummer left the stage in tears.
were SO bad, weren't they about 12?
what I think is the only thing Chicks ever released.
It's alright actually although how they ended up getting any mainstream press at all is beyond me. If they'd have ended up playing to silly, jangly indi-pop fans in dives they'd probably have been alright.
probably about 16/17. I didn't mind them at all really. They released two EP's and then went to record their album in America and then split up.
As far as I'm aware, they have recently reformed.
...are genuinely tuneless shite though. i wouldn't've booed them off but they are definitely "turn up late" material.
being booed at the Barbican last year, when one of his pieces was performed for the Steve Reich season.
glenn branca booed off at the Barbican!? Was it a skiffle-pop set or what?
I think it was someone who didn't really appreciate the Branca oeuvre and was there for the Reich's more sedate "Cello Counterpoint" (which was on the same bill).
Got stupidly booed....they carried on regardless tho....they werent bad to be fair
they carried on regardless and put on a really great show.
supporting Foo Fighters.
People were throwing drinks at the cello player as well. Very sad.
him: "I'm going to slash my wrists now"
heckler: "slash your neck to make sure"
him: (audiable sob)
supporting The Libertines @ Brixton.
They were great fun...
I'm intrigued. I can understand (if not condone) the likes of Daphne & Celeste and The Rasmus, but 50 Cent's just another rapper isn't he? I mean, he never struck me as controversial and in fact I'm sure I heard a track of his that sounded pretty good once.
I don't think that there is nearly ENOUGH boo-ing off these days. Generally people seem to put up with any act, regardless of how awful they are.
From my youth I do seem to remember throwing things at That Petrol Emotion, The Woodentops and The Mighty Lemon Drops on different occasions.
at dour. kind of. they had stuff thrown at them and they left the stage earlier than scheduled i think.
it was totally deserved though. absolute crap.
At Mansun, Oxford Zodiac.
Oh, and VEga 4 supporting James Dean Bradifeld at Koko last year. One guy was just kept shouting 'Snow Patrol' at them. They singled him out with houselights, but didn;t have anythign interesting to say in reply really...
I wanted to boo of the Scare last night supporting WAS. awful band.
But it was much more volatile at gigs in the early 80's than it is now. Part of the legacy of punk, I guess.
And the bands in question were very shit...
when he supported the Manics at Nottingham Ice Arena a couple of years back. Felt sorry for him in a way as he wasn't that bad.
Also, a mate of mine went to that Kaiser Chiefs Radio 1 gig in Doncaster a few weeks back and said The Twang had to leave the stage after four songs as the booing and missile throwing got so bad!
apparently spent that entire tour insulting the glitter contingent.
word spreads between these people.
the World v Manics Fans isnt it?
They were one of the bands I was looking forward to most and Casey had to be compeltely coked up! Grrr
Supporting Thursday in Manchester. I was well narked off.
a whole venue cheer and clap by shouting 'fuck off you talentless fat bald cunts' at raging speedhorn, who were regailing us with homophobic tough man comments. sadly they carried on playing their set anyway. but they WILL NEVER FORGET
alldayer at portsmouth wedgewood rooms. lots of skapunk bands, one postrock band, one metalish band, headliners were Tribute To Nothing. basically the speedhorn were just pricks with awful attitudes.
the lead singer said something like "This song is for the guys who like their rock without the make-up. This is for you cunts" like wearing make-up was the only reason people didn't like them.
if you saw them somewhere else...
i'm assuming they played their entire back catalogue in 30 seconds and the audience assumed they'd won the fight.
they got booed off a lot when supporting yeah yeah yeahs over here..
Kid Harpoon got booed off-stage in Southamton supporting Dirty Pretty Things.
the locust were doing a lot of throwing up on stage, and most of the crowd were pretty ill at the smell, plus the noise.
i wish i'd seen that/the YYYs + blood brothers tour.
when The Strokes were first getting big and got moved up to the main stage at Reading, a load of people were booing Eels who were on before them... it didn't exactly force them to leave, but you could tell they were pissed off
that day anyway
at that shit nme 10 year anniversary gig.
bottled by kasabian fans with glow fucking sticks
i was majorly annoyed. kasabian fans are actual nonces, which is rubbish seeing as i like kasabian and CSS loads.
fan with a bottle once (this was after i stopped liking them). He was a twat, because it was made out of plastic. He only realized this after I turned round and he pegged it.
At V they were priccccks. Honestly the shit they came out with. Mainly knocking radiohead. Dicks.
booed off. The Violets got an awful, lacklustre reception supporting Gossip on Tuesday. Best comeback I've heard about was an early Sex Pistols gig in a prison, Lydon answering the hecklers with "if you don't like it why don't you go home" :)
Only abit of heckling. It really upsets me when people are bottled at festivals - If you don't like their music, go elsewhere! There's obviously at least some people there to see them, and it ruins it for them. I bet the people in the band are really nice, too. If I went to a festival and my favourite band had to race off after three songs because some dickheads were throwing things I'd be fuming.
Bis supporting Foo Fighters
Amen supporting The Wildhearts (it was their own fault though)
Phill Jupitus (!!!) supporting Madness
Daphne and Celeste at Reading
when he was supporting Metallica at Big Day Out, a plastic bottle bopped Marilyn Manson right on the top of the head. He was not best pleased and actually jumped into the crowd offering to fight whoever had thrown it... he stormed off after that. It was tres funny.
Evan Dando was spec-TAK-ularly booed off at Glastonbury in, what, 95?
The crowd was waiting for an already delayed (as I recall, due to Dando turning up for his intended slot minged out of his mong on doowap pills) Portishead set at the absolute pinnacle of the Dummy frenzy. And then this stoned slacker takes the stage.
It was mericless. You actually ended up feeling for him, even if he did foolishly try and take on the entire crowd of about 20,000, many of whom were probably Portishead's homies.
Trip hop never got so rowdy.
50 Cent was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
at reading student union last year, they were a bit poor.
being Reading boys are'nt they?
i saw Lostprophets juuuust about battle through the bottles supporting Lagwagon at Deconstruction 2002 i think it was. almost went off, almost.
supporting my vitriols first gig in 3 years in january '05.Charlie got bottled and then tried to cover NIN-Hurt.
they just didn't like her....
by a hotchpotch of 14 year old girl-boys and their dads, all waiting for The View
a pretty funny walk-off
haha, classic. fair play to him.
for portugal, thats hilarious.
"are there any nickelback fans out there?!"
in the comments to that clip:
"how could any of the guys from NB be considered jackasses? i swear, all of you bitches who think NB sucks just listen to fucking shit like motley crue and slipknot. go fucking suck your own cunts before i get a rapist to do it for you. any bitch who has a problem with nickelback, come message me, and i'll rip your fucking dick off and shove it down your throat."
but for that I must give her some respect.
I once saw a group of pitchfork journalists booing off Radiohead
