they've covered that candi staton song.
It says they have no label, when were they dropped?!
doing the single on a manc label.
is a top album, one of my pick of last year!
and it's good.
it makes me think they should maybe get someone else to do the singing.
I thought the same thing. Stuart's voice has really grown on me, though, to the extent that I'd be disappointed now if they got someone else in.
And it's brilliant to watch during a set when he moves back to play the drums and the dynamic on the stage shifts completely. Great live band.
and on two occasions they were brilliant. I think his voice does work better live though. I don't think they've captured it too well on record though. Who needs records though when the live versions are as good as this:
I think that's their best song.
thursday night at the Borderline - absolutely fantastic. They played a set half full of new songs - ALL easily as good at the best tracks off A Call And Response... i could complain about what they didnt play (cough: no Vitamin C, Last Act... or Gravity In Crises)... but it doesnt really matter as the new stuff was possibly better...
as far as Stuart's voice goes, i reckon its finest is probably on the second half of "You Got The Love" - with the big build it really sounds great.
