How good was 'Read Music/Speak Spanish'? Seriously
favourite track? Mine's probably Man And Wife The Latter.
very very good, been listening to it this week after not putting it on for a year or two.
amazing. much better than anything bright eyes have ever done. yeah you heard. fuck you.
I haven't listened to it in ages either though...
'Manana' is my favourite track, but only just
It's one of those albums I often forget about then a track will come on at random on my itunes and I'll have to put the whole thing on after that. So addictive
I was listening to it loads the other week after all those Bright Eyes threads.
What are your favourite Desa moments? 3 of mine:
'The word is love, the word is loss, the words are DAMAGED GOODS!'
'I've been driving now for 100 blocks saw 50 Kum and Go's, 60 parking lots'
'Fuck War, say FUCK GAS MASKS!'
If only a 2nd album would be done/finished/released.
1.2.3 ONE TWO THREE!
that made me gay4conoroberst
is my favourite track. so much bitterness.
completely loses it at the end though. CLEAN MY HOUSE! MY BIG HOUSE! buh?
I just love that song so much.
Althought the best bit on the album is when you can hear Conor say 'I just don't care!' in between all the adverts at the end of $$$$.
This album, along with One Time For All Time, basically own the CD player in my car.
greater omaha is a good track.
My favorite track changes all the time.
Man and Woman (The latter damaged goods)
The Happiest Place on Earth
Hole in One
does it for me.
Tastic album, and one that introduced me to the world of my beloved saddle creek!
everything about this album oozes quality from the planning document artwork to the lyrical content, it is flawless, all it needs now is a follow!!
on the saddle creek 50 cd, it was an awsom e messy version of manana, conors uitar falls off and he stumbles around with it hanging off him then some one smashes a piniata, people should vote them to reform for ATP vs
on youtube, in amongst the clips relating to south america.
i wish i'd thought of them for atp.
i mean, it doesnt necessarily have to be a brand new cool car, but not a hunk of junk
SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE
that song isn't on the american version of the album. god bless wichita for putting it on the UK version...
how does that work because those dumb girls chatting goes over two songs
i wondered about that. i've not heard it, sadly, so i can't say..
how it works. They talk at the end of fall, quick pause, start talking again for Man and Wife. It works fine.
with a couple other songs (pick up the pen? maybe)maybe they considered that and ep
denver's statistics LPs ain't too shappy either...
at the underworld was one of the best/worst things I have ever seen. He played 5 songs at most instead opting to balance his guitar on his chin.
such a car crash gig..
you didn't mention his 'impromptu' covers..
I spoke to him for a bit at the merch stand and he seemed reaaly quiet and reserved then when he came on stage in that tracksuit dropped to the floor started doing pushups to the sound track of 'america fuck yeah' I thought jesus how did that happen, I still enjoyed it alot
I think conor suggested he wanted to do a second one after those simultanious releases a coupla years ago - something about getting abck to rockin'... nothing yet, alas..
denver about this about a year ago. he basically said they've all recorded their parts except conor. perhaps he's not into it anymore.
I remember a saddle creek email at th beginning of 04 announcing a release and tour but denver wanted to do his statistics thing, I guess conor thought everyone would work around him. Then around IWAIM and DAIADU conor talked about recording something soon and denvers statistics blog in around then said it was finished 'except conors bits' which was weird as you'd think his bits were fairly integral and the first album was a bunch of friends getting together writing and recording sounds in a couple of days so I am kind of glad it didn't happen if they lost that spirit.
follow would be aweseom, as would some live shows, doubt it'll happen, probably split up by now :(
I didn't expect more than about 5 people to respond to this thread when I started it. So nice to see so many people into such a great album.
I really hope a follow-up makes it out sometime, although in a way I kinda like it like this. Imagine if the second one wasn't as good? Would put a slight dampener on it all
Is absolutely delicious - all those little tracing paper blueprints over pictures of fields. It's so Hill Valley.
And that's the end of this thread.
