Anyone going then?
Madonna + Source Tags = good enough reason to see them.
Seeing them in Oxford on Monday, in spite/because of being a Trailodead n00b
9 times since 2000 but not sure if I can be arsed this time. Someone convince me.
should be enough to convince!
to see them the day before my birthday. hopefully gonna be sick
In my experience, anyway.
in manchester last night!!
Are they playing a good show?
it's going to be legendary.
very madonna + source tags heavy, with a bit of worlds apart and only ONE song off so divided... the best one!
cant wait for tomorrow night
and they were beyond good. it was basically a dream setlist consisting of the following songs:
will you smile again, caterwaul, the best, relative ways, perfect teenhood, totally natural, it was there that i saw you, homage, mistakes and regrets, stand in silence.
not bad eh?
i'm EXCITED about the OXFORD gig TOMORROW.
I've never seen TOD live and i'm extremely excited.
I'm gonna buy Forget Cassettes album for sure, you all saying the band is really good live too.
and they were excellent! Action Plan and Forget Cassettes were good also, all in all a v. good night!
Action Plan on at half seven tonight. Please don't hide in the bar or stand at the back throwing things.
(If you're gonna throw stuff, at least come down the front and do it.)
Ticket said doors 7pm, usually this means the support won't be on until 8 at the earliest, I get there at 7:30 and Action Plan are halfway through the set! :o(
Jeeez. You shoulda seen the first half. It was AMAZING.
...trail of dead gave one of the best live performances i've ever seen.
i'd never heard forget cassettes before, but they totally blew me away i was well impressed. i was gonna buy the album, but ...trail of dead ran 10 minutes over the curfew, so i had to run for my train. a bit gutted about that :(
OXFORD WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. I HAVE NO VOICE FROM SHOUTING LYRICS. I HAVE NO HEARING FROM VOLUME. I HAVE NO ENERGY FROM DANCING ETC. I AM HAPPY.
i think they're the loudest band i've seen since Lightning Bolt last may.
goooood shit :D
I had my earplugs with me. God, I'm getting old...
Tonight has reaffirmed that TOD are my favourite live band EVER
damn the time it takes to get from here to oxford, I would've gone otherwise >>>>>>:(
I've now seen three of my favourite gigs ever in the last week. This is insane, and I love it.
FIVE SOURCE TAGS SONGS!!!
aren't they playing in London tommorrow night?
till the London DiSers get back home
it's my fault though, I had the opportunity to go, FOR FREE NO LESS, and I didn't because it was 5pm by the time I found out I had a place to stay and I thought it was too late by then. UGH.
OK....I don't know.
weren't that impressed. They're clearly freaks of nature, since it was immense.
they were a treat. Perfect Teenhood= ace.
Caterwaul was possibly my favourite moment, that opening riff just sparked mayhem down the front :D
I thought they were good, if occasionally patchy, sloppy and/or embarrassing. I think the problem is that I was there with so many hardcore fans that were liek OMG THAT WAS THE BEST THING EVER, when I thought it was about a 7 or an 8. Oh well.
what I meant was that you two weren't liek OMG THAT WAS THE BEST THING EVER
And when I called you freaks, I obviously meant it in the nicest possible way ;)
Haha, I just remembered drunkenly sacking everyone from ATP when we were in the pub...
it's pretty much just you left in the chalet
it didn't happen right?
I've un-fired you all again
you non believee
i think i'm going to go to koko tomorrow night. er.. tonight? i don't care.
im fucked and have pissed off all my flatmates, but i dont care
and you will fucking know us...
i'm drinking more :'(
got a cheapo ticket on Ebay. Score.
the four hours it took to get home, don't think I'd make that trip for anyone else though, such a good band!
No sure Koko will be that great as it's a bigger venue, you lot should see if there's brighton tickets still available instead :)
Highlights - Jason, off his head more than usual and in hugging EVERYONE mode, two keyboards instead of two drums, Doni plays with both ToD and 'Cassettes and knows how to get some evil evil sounds when on keyboards, at one point both of them were doing a low low bass rumble that nearly popped my ears! Conrad's voice is fucked though and at points sounds like axl rose but he makes up for it big time with performance, kevin... had a bad jumper...
i'm going to go to koko last night.
Exactly how drunk are you right now?
i wish :'(
last night was the 7th time, don't think they have it in them to do a bad show. Am actually disappointed they didn't play more from the new record, think it would have 'clicked' more if they had...
Does all this enjoyment mean any of you are backtracking on their slating of Worlds Apart now?
i love it
i'm off work, i only woke up at 11:30.
i've actually never heard Worlds Apart, although i liked the stuff they played from it last night...
I'll be able to get a couple of tickets off a tout tonight? Never really tried in london before.
don't bother though, they were shit
The scorn and indignation that you lot heaped on me was incredible.
is open until 6. my plan is go to pick up a ticket from there this afternoon.
Just got back home and i have to say that i loved it and really enjoyed it!
Great live performance, the band was amaizing: Doni is a grat musician, i really liked the other band he played with, Forget cassettes and i bought their album, she got an amaizing voice!
Didn't love Action Plan, not great performance really.
Yea me too! Forget Cassettes were amazing - best show i have seen so far.
I wished i hadn’t pre-ordered their album on amazon now an bought it at the gig.
Oh well will be mine soon
last night was AMAZING.
I think I'm going to go to brighton tomorrow now, I NEED to see them.
as well :'(
I'm going with Louis (with the beard)
i would do if it was friday, but i can't really take another day off this week. boo.
i forgot you know louis. i haven't seen him in ages...
last one's not until 11:40
Sorry I'm not helping am I?
you're REALLY not.
into victoria, right? i live 10 minutes from there.. oh dear.
it terminates at London Bridge.
The last direct to Victoria is 23:02
i'll think about it.
no word of an exaggeration. they were so much better than last time they toured.
trail of dead were great. seriously. played most of their classics, avoided a slew of new material. though they didn't smash their drumkit this time. a cliche that i normally look forward to.
i received a couple of freebie tickets for the Koko gig this morning.
that's right. this morning.
and it were last night innit.
is some poor timing.
they were tremendous, too. Only band in the world whose live shows make me feel today the way I did when I first started going to see bands play.
in what way do you feel differently about most live shows now than when you started going to them? I can't imagine a great gig ever losing it's magic for me, but that said I only started going to gigs about 2 years ago.
Last Saturday aside, I haven't felt the same special feeling for a while when going to gigs. Maybe I drink more or something and it dulls my reactions.
I thought every gig was amazing. Now i'm far more critical.
and partly due to spending 6 years writing about music, analysing it, picking it apart, critiquing this and that. And now I work with it and load bands in & out of a venue every day and see exactly how it's set up. The awe disappears.
It's still brilliant, I still get immense enjoyment out of seeing a great band kick it onstage, but when I was 16 it was a great big mystery - a performance whose mechanics & underbelly I didn't understand, so the whole thing [particularly big shows with lights and smoke and my beloved band stretched out on a massive stage] was awe-inspiring. I didn't know how it worked, I just knew it was astounding, so the bands I loved were very much more heroes to me than they are now.
In a good way, it was 2D - like a movie, vivid & engrossing but a solid thing that you couldn't break down into all its separate elements - e.g. you see the sky onscreen & know what it depicts but you still couldn't put your hand through it. That's how it felt the other night, watching them.
I'm not sure if much of that made any sense.
going to the Northampton show tonight.
What's the merch like on this tour, if any? I'm dying to get a TOD tee.
at 20 quid was out of my league which am gutted about (nagged him on myspazz to bring them as well, hope he does mail order)
they have a couple of good new vintage looking designs and the logo shirts they had last time, but no communist style ones or the ToD logo from source tags, shame as my one looks utter gash now...
and no vinyl, they had a red vinyl 7" of a new song from the record but sold out when they toured the US
I got a t-shirt, and then proceeded to drop it on the ground all over Oxford
absolutely fucking amazing last night in Brighton, my head is still ringing. It was just wave after wave of concussive noise. Awesome.
Forget Cassettes were pretty good as well.
Low last Thursday, Trail of Dead this. I think Thursday is my new favourute day.
I've not been in a mosh pit for ages. Good times.
What did they play in the encore? I had to leave to get the train.
Totally natural was fucking awesome.
Mistakes & Regrets.
There was 2 other osngs. I should have left before it but decided it was worth the cost of a cab to stay to the end.
The mosh pit was great, energetic but still friendly. Exactly as it shoulb be although I probably shouldn't have been anywhere near it as I've got several bruised ribs. It hurts like hell this morning.
What was the crowd like further back? Everytime I turned around there seemed to be a lot of folded arms. I hope that was just because it was between songs.
'The rest will follow' started, shame I missed Mistake and Regrets. At least it wasn't Richter Scale Madness.
with Clare de Lune in Bristol. It was perfect.
Clare de Lune is my favourite and they didn't play it last night. :(
