i think its a day in the life by the beatles. i bet you dont tho!
I posted that Wichita Lineman was the best song ever in a thread similar to this one. It is the best happy/sad song ever.
at the moment 'Made of Stone'.
is different to my 'favourite' song ever/of the moment. I reckon. I just happen to think Wichita Lineman is perfect in every way. But it's not MY favourite song ever/of the moment/whatever.
That doesn't make sense. Whatever.
but I feel like the line between the two is kinda hazy for me at the moment.
its wuite easy to understand really
That's why I answered.
But surely the best is Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol!!! The BEST SONG EVER!!!!
Good one, Virgin radio listeners.
wha you were talking about then. I just Wikipedia-ed it.
I think my face has just fallen off.
Glad to see that America has made it into the top 10.
This America- loving, just to reassure me- ironic right?
a wee bit...
it doesnt quite come across on-screen
that it being one of worst songs I've ever heard would be enough but, having seen the Virgin list, I can see your point.
Rosalita (Come Out Tonight. Clearly.
at the moment anyway. I've loved it since it came out, which is admittedly only a few years but it can make me so happy or cry depending on how i'm feeling as lots of emotion attached to it. it's also damn good.
you got the name wrong.
who gives a shit!! you can't take it away from me. i'm hopeless with lyrics/song names but i can still love the damn song!!
A Day In The Life. I was actually asking myself this very question before I saw this thread. Odd.
It's a way of life.
we are floating in space. perfect in every way. i don't see how anyone could not like that song.
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince
Listen to drone 1, the other ones are a bit shit.
You haven't heard it
-oh, and day of the life isn't a song, its two bits of songs (one promising sounding, the other chirpy and vacuous) bolted together with an overblown and pompous production job.
Acid or Cocaine? You decide
they'd all stopped by them
Even though I hate The Beatles now, I used to be a fan, and I know that is bollocks
Bjork - Frosti/Aurora
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
David Bowie - Heroes
Skip James - Hardtime Killing Floor Blues
Smiths - There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin (Sin-E recording)
Red House Painters - Grace Cathedral Park
Kristin Hersh - Me & My Charms
Kristin Hersh - Gazebo Tree
Patrick Wolf - Lycanthropy
Nina Nastasia - Stormy Weather
All these songs have changed my life in some way.
It was like waking up in another world.
Faith by the Cure.
Followed closely by words by Low.
its More Than A Feelin' by Boston.
but it could well be Witchita Lineman
(or The Sweat Descends)
My favourite piece of music evah.
I was slightly sickened by the fact Skins used it the other day.
But yes. I think it is totally, utterly perfect in every way.
I can't decide about the rest tho.
Hmmmmm............... i have too too many. I am sitting firmly on top of a fence here... (actually, I am not really voicing any opinion on this at all, am I?)
I am thinking it's Father to A Sister of Thought by Pavement or Love Potion no. 9 by the Coasters.
is a song so good it once made me cry
by Joni Mitchell.
It's Gershwin's 'Summertime'. The Janis Joplin version's my personal favourite.
and decided it was 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins.
by levi roots ;)
If he released that as a single, I would totally buy it.
but its so nice he could always release it twice!
or how to dissapear, both by radiohead.
"I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs"
Are they having a giraffe?
And I know this sounds terribly premature but I just can't fault 'You! Me! Dancing!' - It is literally perfect.
maybe "Poison Arrow"
that or "Touch Me" by Sam Fox
if you're being serious about ABC i love you
Lexicon of Love is one of my favourite albums
to place a single track as the greatest ever. Different tracks affect you in different ways. Some make you sad, others happy, others in a party mood, others make you feel apocalyptic etc.
is the Kennedy Curse by Alexisonfire
but now i don't have to!
I'll just write: ^this
although if I were to REALLY say what my best song ever is I'd be giving away one of the answers to the lyrics quiz I just posted.
but now 'Teenage Riot' - Sonic Youth
It's been mine for a while.
I've never been a massive Pumpkins fan but this song is perfect
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
Everyone knows this.
Best song ever is the sort of term usually dreamt up by fans of very successful bands, to try and justify their slavish devotion to a bunch of blokes- most often from Liverpool- when saying "i love them and want their ugly babies" just doesn't cut it any more.
There is no such thing as a best song ever, only a personal favourite- and as most people are used to top ten lists/change their minds often.
Love in the City by The Turtles is probably the closest thing for me. I truly love it, and have known it for six or so years, but never tire of it. Winner!
Men At Work - Down Under, without a doubt
it's basically love will tear is apart.
It's Waterloo Sunset.
By The Smiths.
and Love will Tear Us Apart - ^^^^ indeed.
Hmmm.... too too many to choose from.....
Also, Mayonnaise by Smashing Pumpkins.
'I've Got You Under My Skin'
'One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)'
All other music is moribund.
