S H I T. a shit tori amos imitation, & tori is altogether shit anyway. so you see.....
tickets sold out before i got money :(
They were £17 or so though, I didn't think she was that popular.
I think she is pretty good on CD and I liked her at T last year. I'm seeing her in her own right for the first time at the Astoria on Saturday.
In regard to smokers, at the Blood Brothers show last month there were posters asking people not to smoke (I guess due to Johnnys throat), but people still did.
it was sufjan at Shepherds Bush Empire had posters that said no smoking too
she's very good
but i prefer the soviet kitsch stuff to begin to hope.
I think she's amazing live, but I don't really like listening to Begin To Hope on record. I saw her twice last year in a week (Truck & Wedgewood Rooms) and they were two of the best gigs I went to.
but at least she lets you smoke at gigs..
i'm trying very hard to see where you're coming from but...nope. i just can't.
She's absolutely wonderful. Her voice is stunning. And she doesn't always make funny noises - she seems to have calmed that down a bit on her latest album. Granted, she may not be everyone's thing, but shit? God no. And she's oh so stunning live. One of the best live experiences I've ever had was watching her.
The production on Begin to Hope is terrible though.
i've only seen her at truck, but i thought she was fantastic.
i never ever realised disturbed were THAT terrible. i never never realised it was that shit.
that has the 'oh-WAH-AH-AH-AH!' at the beggining? My friend spliced it with another song and it was insanely funny, but the other song escapes me now =[
ESPECIALLY the production.
But the charm came from the stripped down nature of the performance. The album seems overly fussy in comparison. Maybe I should be slagging the arrangement but either way its a bit dated.
i think she wanted that sort of sound for a lot of her songs but hadn't previously had the opportunity to use a lot of production facilities. i like it anyway.
but begin to hope was a bit poor.
