Best new Bloc Party song

lemonbrickcombo [Edit] [Delete] 30 replies 23:14, 9 February '07

Having listened to the album nigh on solid for the last few days, I believe I can formulate an opinion on this. It's gotta be Uniform, closely followed by On.
Just, that slow opening, then the bass cutting in, then those guitars. So much anger and angst, it's brilliant.

  • I meant to ask:

    which do you like best?

    lemonbrickcombo | 9 Feb '07, 23:15 | X
  • maybe slightly staid

but I Still Remember really gets to me. It'll probably be something different in a few weeks.

    Parsefone | 9 Feb '07, 23:22 | X
  • ...

All the ones they played on CHannel 4 all last week were craptacular.

    • hunting for witches is my fave

      moodiejg @hollywood_freak | 9 Feb '07, 23:55 | X
      • I really like

the intro to Hunting For Witches & the track starts to build really well... but then the vocals come in and the song just plods... and plods... and plods 'til the end. It's just rubbish really, isn't it?

    • I'm quite disappointed by the whole album

except for 'On', which is amazing. so it wins by default

      • 'Where Is Home'

is spectacular. I can't get enough.

          • yeah,

            on's wicked

            the rest is okay

          • i love every song come to think of it.

especially uniform, it takes so long to build up, its wonderbarr

          • I can't stop listening to Sunday.

I'm not too sure why as it's very 'bloc party by numbers'. Song For Clay has really grown. The first 6 tracks are all good to varying degrees. The lyrics are often apalling but I've come round to them a little bit.
I've also revisited Silent Alarm and other old stuff. They have so many good B Sides. Tulips, Staying Fat, Storm & Stress, Always New Depths, Skeleton. I've got as excited about them as I was in 2004 or whenever it was.
AWITC clearly isn't as good as the older stuff but I still like.

            Brilliant, Brilliant band.

            • skeleton and always new depths are

my two favourite bloc party songs. along with plans.

not heard the new one yet, which doesn't add much to the discussion.

          • I hate to be boring,

but the new stuff is quite cack.

                • Hunting For Witches

followed closely by On/Song For Clay.

                    • hunting for witches

but waiting for the whatever is really growing on me. the drumming is phenomenal in this song.

              • I Still Remember

I'm guessing that's the next single, as the bonus DVD has a video for it. A good video at that.

                • it's the USA lead single i think

                  • IMO

                    this album is phenominal

                    • AWITC

is so much better than Silent Alarm

                      fullerov @moodiejg | 11 Feb '07, 10:23 | X
                      • Definitely.

AWITC is really quite delicious from start to finish. I can't pick out a weak track really.
