Genghis Tron

They've just signed to Relapse and are doing their next album with Kurt Ballou again. Great band, Dead Mountain Mouth is awesome. I've always thought they sound like Depeche Mode if they were really aggressive. And were way too into Godflesh.

they always dissapointed me, it just seemed to random and pointless and like they hadnt thought about what they were doing. we played with them live though and it sounded fucking incredible, but i still think theyre weak and pretty pointless on record.

  • Relapse?

    Nuts!

They're awesome, geeky blokes making music like that is always great.. live they were amazing but saw them playing with the worst Myspace Enter Shikari-esque band ever, was embarrassing...

Yeah when I saw them in manchester a few months ago the support was really REALLY dire..but it was worth the wait, they were unbelievable

I'd definitely agree that it comes across better live than on record, but I totally think that they're one of those bands who are doing something really different and original within that particular genre of music. Definitely not identikit hardcore/screamo.

      • yeah

they are amazing live, and it all gels and makes sense through a good p.a. but the records are a let down. That said, we do need more bands like that around, doing something different and pushing boundaries. but i cant imagine too many scene kids these days being open minded enough to bring in new influences.

Its a pity. Two of the best gigs I went to last year (Genghis Tron and Zombi) were both really badly attended. No more than 40 ish people at either. But I suppose that normal when something quite different comes along, takes a while for the larger crowds to cotton on. Or because its a bit more complex than Terror.
