wasnt his car found abandoned halfway across the old severn estuary bridge? The mud under there is quite deep, i'd doubt if you could find a body in there, and it'd be dangerous to look, so i'm sure thats why it was called off, the evidence would suggest suicide but without a body theres no proof.
