Most over-rated band ever?
I'm not on about the NME's love of them, because absolutely everyone is totally overrated by them.
But basically, you heard all the best songs years before the album was out, and were bored of them by the time they'd been re-recorded and made to sound 'more rough and ready'.
People think Turner is some kind of lyrical genius. I think they're wrong. To be honest, he can put things into rhymes very well. That's all. He's no poet. He doesn't create intruiging images in his words, or tell stories or express anything. He just sings about things that people do, very fast, in his accent.
I can't wait for their second album. I bet its just a rehash of their first one, but it will have some selling point like 'there are a few songs where Turner really says how hard his life has been' or something.
I think they should also be blamed for Little Man Tate's appearance to the world. They have to be one of the least-worthy-of-any-praise bands of all time.
