I genuinely don't understand this enthusiasm for Jamie T at all. I genuinely just can't see his appeal. From the songs I've heard he's not all that as a lyricst and there's other people doing a similar thing but writing better songs.
about him that would make me want to listen to him, and thus, i have never listened to him.
but i saw him play solo about 18 months ago and he was fan-tas-tic. really arresting, interesting performance.
I saw him about a year ago and really enjoyed it - it was charming and funny and melodic in the way that Beck can be when doing his acoustic stuff.
Seeing him again very soon, and it's gonna be interesting comparing and contrasting...
I think Jamie T is better. His songs are cheeky and good. I thought he was a twat at first with his mock patois. But the more I listed the more I liked it.
Stella is great, i like the Betchamin sample in it. His sound really makes me think there is plenty more good stuff to come.
This lad seems to have absorbed a hell of a lot of different music. The album sounds full to bursting with ideas, as if he can't get the songs down fast enough.
It's like listening to Hip Hop in 85, he's proper hip hop, kitchen sink style, check Roots Manuva's definition of what hip hop is, this lad is it.
Shane quite an injustice.
all go and see him live with just him and his acoustic bass. it all makes sense then
poster of him in Spillers this week and he looks dead like Leo Sayer.
Listened to about half of it, it starts well, but it's tailed off slightly by track 6.
then becomes increasingly freakin' awesome with each consecutive spin thereafter. 'operation' has about twenty million different tagline tunes going on. it's sort of unavoidable, really. he should be everything i dislike, but it's fair to say i heart him.
live, though = notsosure...
Jamie T < Mika
How dare you mention him in the same sentence as The Toothless one!
I love the album, has'nae let me down a bit. You can genuinley hear so many different influences from start to finish... Some crackers on there
I have yet to see him live with a full band, but the two solo performances have been pretty damn good...
because I did Songs in the Dark with him once, but he did sit there in a fug and he was a bit unapproachable.
He's a good performer, but he's just not as good as Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac.
