The jury ist out. I think they played this at ATP.
putting it above the greatest song of all time.
it's classic grarage rock. the stooge doing what they do.
its not bad...don't like the chorus/lyrics though.
Its always gonna be a little dangerous to do this. They have gone for something in the same style as their old stuff, which obviously isn't going to be as good as their old stuff- the other option would have been to do something completely different, yet brilliant, which they'd also have been damned for.
I agree with what you said, although I really didn't like that guitar solo
I confess I didn't get that far.
Only just heard 'i wanna be your dog' recently, and, apart from the fact it has sleigh bells on it, I don't get why they are critics darlings over the hundreds, nay thousands of garage bands who were doing the same thing as that, often better, back in 1965/66.
Love what I heard of Iggys solo stuff though.
s'a lot darker than more garage bands of the time tho?
maybe listen to the whole of the debut. you know a lot more about 60s garage than me, but all the best other garage stuff ive heard has just been awesomely nasty, childish rock and roll, whilst the stooges are a lot more nihilistic n ting.
will definitely get it- I mean, I really loved 'i wanna be your dog'...I think my sentence above went a little bit wrong.
I'm sort of keen to hear raw power as well, I know people often knock the mix, but people knock the mix of back in the usa by mc5, and I love that.
go and get it right NOW
The Iggy/Bruce Dickinson mix where the guitar squeals and hurts your ears and Iggy sounds like an even bigger nutcase. It's easily one of the best albums ever recorded.
Bad show Ron. The song is pretty good though. They haven't completely crapped over their past yet!
Yeah 11 more songs of similar quality and it should be a respectable addition to the back catalogue. Its got to be better than than Skull Ring anyway.
It was OK until Iggy came in, but his voice sounds fucked - it sounds so anaemic when you play it alongside something from Fun House. And the lyrics are terrible.
Between this and the Dino Jr album, I feel two of my fav bands may spend 2007 shitting all over their legacies.
is it not a slight contradiction to say you think the song's OK but that you don't like the chorus given that on first listen the chorus seems to comprise 99.9% of the song.
