I have formed a band called Dirty Rotten Troubadours and I talk, shout and swear in a manner akin to Eddie Argos, Ian Dury, John Cooper Clarke and Mark E Smith. However, my lyrics have all the humour of Argos's but are less facile.

This isn't a plug persay, I genuinely consider it pertinent to the thread :P

My mate has seen them live and said they were terrible. I can't exactly see them having any long-term success, they seem to be a bit of a fad band.

It's just cliche punk riffs with the same line said so many times it gets lodged in your head. It's boring.

New-wave punk re-hashes should be left to people like the futureheads, they do it well.

when i saw them first i had exactly the same reaction as you...though not the 'talking is shit' response more the 'whole package is shit' response. but having listened to them a few times you realise they're not really taking themselves all that seriously and so the audience mustn't either.

They make me smile and laugh a bit but not in the extremes that Bucky do. Bucky anyone?

Top of the Pops might seem lazy but it is a stroke of genius in way.
