Yes! Yes it is!
junlge is awesome
I like it - its very good stuff.
People like to poke fun, but it was fucking wicked at the time. I doubt you'd have dubstep or grime now if it wasn't for that scene.
Just wish I still had all my old tapes.
Anyone know any good blogs for downloading good mixes or individual tracks?
i'd like to know this too. Love a bit o' jungle me (just know sod all about it).
scene is still going strong, it contracts and expands from time to time but it is truely international and as such will continue to be big but also underground.
would you say it was much different? It's just i consider it to be but i'm not sure a lot of other people do.
i'm hardly an expert.
I'm not really an expert, but jungle to me was more ragga influenced, with harder beats and massive use of the Amen Brother break.
I didn't hear the term 'drum and bass' until later, and thats when I think it all went soft and a bit pretentious and started dying out. Take a bow, Goldie.
Yeah i did wonder whether you'd really class that Amen stuff as d'n'b. To me drum and bass has a lot more limitations, the only stuff that's sounded truly original to me over the past few years is Distorted Minds and they started sounding like the Status Quo of breaks shortly after they emerged.
not sure if massive is the right word but I've heard lots of unlikely DJs recently drop a few jungle and dnb tunes into their sets. It always makes me smile.
